;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D RICK, It would have been so cool to see you run the course at the Statesville Auto Auction, some folks were hiting 3rd gear, and I was probably hittin 50-60 mph in the 62hp CRX, ya just gotta be there next year !!!!!!! Rob, you and the Turbo Civic were AWSOM!!!!!! One of the best shows all year !! Great lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAP...I always miss the faster ones with CCR races. With the NCCC we sometimes get old airports and can actually reach speeds of 100+ on the straights...very hard to compete against smaller lighter cars on these tight courses...no complaints though as I just love to be out there and the CCR races are much more convienent for my traveling

I'm back from my abbreviated Iraq mission and see that we still don't have an article ready for submission on the 24Hr. event. That's a shame, because we could have gotten a lot of mileage with sponsorship for Solo events and club recognition. Looking forward to 2007 there is potential to schedule some dates at Continental if a schedule is developed early enough. All Solo drivers that are preparing their rides for the year should look into adding the required equipment to run the Wolf Ridge Hillclimb. It's being put together to run in May of 2007. Three miles of forty plus turns should be entertaining. The site is about twenty minutes north east of Asheville, NC. Wesley Nicholson and Nickolas Seymour presented information to the CCR board at the Dec. board meeting and from what is known, it ;)looks to be a keeper.

Good comment. Did someone volunteer to write an article. I can help with that and we can post it on the website, once we have our new webMaestros set up to post stuff. perhaps we can kick off a thread for folks to offer their opinions and thoughts regarding the Big 24! JB I saw your note re- this event on your site and that was a good starting point.

Article? What article? I still think we (the solo community) should donate a nice poster to Continental to show our appreciation. And do this article thing. James

You're probably not aware of some of the "heat" going on at National level about speeds at autox events. Re-read the Solo Rule Book in regard to course layouts and speeds. Even the first level of TT events don't qualify for those speeds. I know the intent of the post - I'm just giving one of the friendly comments about how public perception can affect our sport. A post here can always be extracted and used out of context. So...... CCR's autocross courses are always designed to provide a challenge to the skill of the driver and to their car control. Courses are designed to be within SCCA Solo rules and guidelines. M.B. R.E.

NCCC runs both Low (speeds below 80mph) and High (Speed above 80mph) Events and even use a radar gun to ensure the tracks are set up to adhere to the type of event. They have been doing these types races since 1959.

Actually, he was talking about the speeds that some people dreamed about the last autocross. There was a lot of bs flyin' over there on the Miata Forum......but I digress....it was.....after all.....the Meaduh Forum.

Well the speed that some people had may be a bit off, we had a Gps data logger on the Boxster and hit 70, which is still in second gear. being one of the fastest cars there I feel that some competitors that said they were faster would have to have a car that pulls damn hard. to be sizable faster, I'm talking sub 12 second cars.
on a second thought, I felt the finish did not work either, after we had the safety walk , when they were setting up the timing truck we found out that we needed to give a drive-thru area for the Auction, we moved the finish real quickly and did not take the time that it required to work right. it should have been wider and the lights further back. the hump at the finish was unloading most cars steering leading to cones being hit along with the camber in the corner helping put down power also lightened the steering axle. I hit cones in the finish 3 out 4 myself, which means i failed in the proper design of the finish.
thanks Rob F.
