Just a question....or two ;D
What is the posiblility of an independent group "renting" CCR to put on a solo event? It could be a non-points event for CCR. And allow a car club to utilize the expertise and experience of CCR.

That would prbobably be doable and is not without precedent if I understand your question correctly.
Probably need to take that up with Steven or the new director.
In a way, it sounds like you're describing the NTI school.

I love non-points events...give ya a chance to try some radical set ups without blowing your standings. Very hard to do serious tuning when you can only run your car at the events.
I have a new mix of Hoozerz to play wid and would love to see what they do. Fat r25as for front and somewhat smaller in back.

Could we rent CCR out to them for either a percentage of the gate, or perhaps a set amount?

Could we rent CCR out to them for either a percentage of the gate, or perhaps a set amount? I don't see how that would be any different than what we do for NTI, but remember, NTI furnishes us with a free site to compete on. It can get expensive for most clubs. If we put it on, it has to have an SCCA Sanction. Not only would a site probably have to be paid for, but insurance would have to be paid, as well. I don't think most of us ever stop and think about how much it costs us to put on an event. I think the insurance premium is about $800 for a 100 car event....that should be in the ballpark anyway. Those reasons are why it should be discussed with Steven or the new Solo Chair (Dave .

Ken - Would this be open to CCR members also? That would be an important factor, as you would need the stewards, timing staff, course designers/set up, etc. SCCA won't let us have a sanctioned event (which is a nice way of saying they won't provide insurance) without an event chair and safety steward.
the DLOTBP is dead on ~ Usually by the time you get site rental and insurance taken care of, you find out why a lot of car clubs don't have autocross events.
I think it would work if it was open to CCR members and the club you are discussing - it would provide the necessary volunteers to support the event, and it would provide sufficient revenue to support the expenses.
At NTI, they offer the site at no charge and we have volunteers who show up on Saturday - the incentive is they get to run on Sunday for free (and get some fun runs in on Saturday - Well, at least until Mikey plows down all the cones wid the SS Impala). But I think you would have a hard time getting volunteers to show up if they only get to watch.

Open to CCR members? Absolutely!! A non points event, so as not to mess with the Solo schedule. I was only thinking that the club could use the extra revenue, and it would give the club the added exposure in the sports car community.
Have to be good stewards in the community!!!

I was thinking it could be a win-win for both our club, and the club that "rents" us.
