www.petitiononline.com/hrir/petition.htmlTo: Rowan County We are in favor of the High Rock International Raceway. We believe that there are great benefits to having this track. And that nothing warrants stopping progress. The Mill site has never been on the National Historic Register of Deeds. The $20 million project will not require public money. The project will be completely funded with private money.

Is the project in trouble again? I think its been in trouble more than it's been making progress. There've been funding issues, government/zoning issues, historical society opponent issues, etc.

Ok... that's interesting... I doubt that a track in Salisbury will take away much from a classy place like VIR!

You and I know that, and I don't know if VIR would even register something like this or CMP as competition, but still-- conspiracies make for great 'journalism!'

I would think a track in Salisbury could take a heck of a "piece of pie" from VIR.

Its seems there is a greater demand for tracks than supply. But, if the supply increases the track rental fees could be impacted. It would be nice to see a bit of a buyers market in places to race. Also, when I was in the VIR Oak Tree Pro Shop this weekend I picked up a beautifully machined piece of blue/gold and silver metal and commented on not knowing it's use and inaquired about the cost. The guy working there said it was about 1000 bucks...it was a quick connect for a Porche Cup car jacking system...I bought a $9 coffee mug instead.
VIR is in a class by itself. To use the Country Club analogy they like to foster, High Rock will be a public course without pool or tennis courts. If anything it will generate more interest in the sport and perhaps generate more biz for VIR in the long run.
If anything High Rock will have a hard time, at first, getting some events like SCCA which won't sanction competing events and for them the calendar is pretty full. I would expect NASA, Car Guys, the clubs and bikes being the initial clients of HRI as they are growing and in need of venues, period.
Just some thoughts.
PS: the first motorized paper towel dispenser I ever saw was at VIR...I wonder if Roebling has them yet?

Robeling and CMP just don't have the facilities that VIR has. I enjoy going to all three tracks... Oh, I want one of those motorized paper towel dispensers for the garage!!
