Hey guys my name is matt im from Qctuners.com and me and the owner of the club had an idea of maybe putting together or sponsering a show where we can have both car show and auto-x at the same even along with a lunch to feed everyone or a food/beverage vender to feed people. It would be around the Charlotte/Concord area or at Knights Stadium in South Carolina. Just want some opinions on the idea of it, we are just trying to get our name out, and mix the two types of culture together cause i know in our club we have a bunch of types of cultures of racing and showing. Maybe get some local shops in the surrounding areas to have some booths out there to show there products and sell them have some music along with the whole race/show event.

Interesting idea... Not sure how many autocrossers are into car shows, but you never know. I'd suggest that you bring it up to the SOLO chair (who will be changing soon) as it'll be his decision. Now if you can get some hotties out... you'll get a lot of positive responses!

I like Car Shows. I've put my car in a few shows. My old car makes the others look better.

You have no idea how tuff this sport is on me. Look at it from my standpoint. So many handsome men to look at. And when it's hot, you, you take off your shirts.. ..Oh My,,,, the young cone shaggers, running, ohhhhh ,, everywhere I look , eye candy... men bent over, changing a tire, or checking pressure... it's a wonder I can even find the course, let alone stay on it. And now you know why I'm the slowist car out there. And I'm enjoying every minute of it. giggle giggle

Worry not Adam. If you make it past my newest friend, the helmet hottie Aimee, You may survive. James ROFL!!! I'm not sure I have the right words... Let's just say it's a master plan: the more distractions, the easier it'll be for us girls to get faster times. I haven't been autocrossing in so long I need all the advantages I can get, haha! ;D On a more serious note, this idea of a car show and autocross is kinda neat, depending on how it's done. It could be an interesting way to gather more people. I haven't been to a car show in ages, but I kinda wonder if having a joint car show and autocross would draw more people into the sport. I know I didn't get involved with SCCA until 3 years after I'd heard about it and wanted to be involved, simply because I thought I had to have a newer, "sportier," better car...not to mention the fact that somehow I thought it was inordinately expensive. "Car show people" might not be interested in autox'ing their show cars, but I don't think I know anyone who's interested only in cosmetics and not performance. Show them a group of people who can really handle their cars, and I imagine they will want to try it too. Of course there are many logistics to think about...and I'm not sure I have any ideas for that at this point.

Amie i know a few who are just into show and not performance and racing, either way it could be a lot of fun because there would be a whole lot going on, could even do it as a Charity show and get some other things going as well.

Thanks Adam. The only glich I see with having a combo show/cross, is, getting all those folks to sign the SCCA Insurance Waiver. What car show asks spectators to sign a waiver? I've never been aksed to sign one when I put my car in a show. And according to SCCA Rules, there are NO spectators. Everyone on the premises, signs the waiver. Maybe we could find a BIG lot, with a high (see through) fence, to keep wayward souls off the Xing 1/2 & safe.

I'd bet that the car show folks would want to go for some rides on the AX course, so they'd have to sign the waiver already... Just make it a sign-in form in case they want to ride with one of us.

Ummm...nope... a 1979 Furd Fiesta seems to be acceptable as an autocross car...and it gets good mileage too! As you can see - this forum has a way of heading off in strange and mysterious directions - now, back to the topic of Autocross and Car Show....

Well people who would come to just show and dont want to sign the waiver would have to leave. simple as that. if someone wants to complain about signing their name they dont need to come to it.
It's for saftey, simple as that. Jeannie I'd work waivers for it and have a stick to beat people who dont want to sign it. Think that would be good enough? lol

Mine was an old Brick (obviously...) but you should have seen me at the first race! I was so embarrassed cause I didn't know to clean out my trunk too . Only had my entire music library in there lol. haha, after that I learned very quickly... Well people who would come to just show and dont want to sign the waiver would have to leave. simple as that. if someone wants to complain about signing their name they dont need to come to it. It's for saftey, simple as that. Jeannie I'd work waivers for it and have a stick to beat people who dont want to sign it. Think that would be good enough? lol EXACTLY!!! Kick 'em out if they give ya trouble! Besides....if people know from the getgo that they're coming to a JOINT event...an autocross and a car show, then they would have to be utterly unreasonable* to make a fuss about SCCA making sure they have insurance in case of the highly unlikely catastrophe that could happen. Not to mention they would have to be entirely Stoopid to expect it to be exactly like a regular car show. They'd deserve to be beat with a stick.** Even at indoor go-kart tracks you have to sign an insurance waiver!! LOL... <dismounts soapbox> (just now realizing that unreasonable people create such a reaction... ) *The author is aware that there are in fact unreasonable people of that caliber around. **only half-kidding. . So how to we put this thing together? What needs doing? Hmm...

Oh, and By the way... That SCW would be killed in the first round... Remember...your car goes where your eyes go! I don't think I need to explain the obvious ramifications of that principle... I think I could safely say I would be in the top 5 times if all the cone shaggers looked like that ;D... *evil laugh* What a good idea.

Aimee you're going to fit in just fine around here... Great sense of humor!!
To make this happen I think that Matt needs to get in touch with the new SOLO chair and work out the details.
Dave and I are going to Statesville this afternoon to look at the potential site. We'll talk about it the show / AX idea.

lol thanks. I generally aim to amuse myself with my remarks, but if other people happen to find them funny too then that's cool... I look forward to seeing where this autocross/car show idea goes! I know I'd bring my car to the show, even if it is just a plain stock civic .

One question I do have is. If a kid comes to an SCCA event you have to have a certain waiver signed and stamped to get them in? i could see people complaining about that if i'm thinking correctly.
