This is what happens when you early apex too early and panic and jerk the wheel... Poor guy. Brand new corvette, too. Barber's in Birmingham, AL is an awesome track...have any of you ever been there? I've never actually raced on it but I went yesterday and watched the track day. My friend Evan happened to be in our friend's '84 BMW 318... It was pretty amusing, actually. He kept up with the fastest of them through the turns, it was just through the straights that he kept getting passed. (Pretty impressive, I think, cause he was up against new m3s and porsches!) The best part was the last run of the day they mixed up the different groups (novice, intermediates, etc.) and a novice E46 driver pointed Evan by... (I think it was an M3 even.) Lol...and pointed before he realized he really had to slow down cause Evan was putting along as fast as he could go. Anyway...it was fun, and seems like a really good track. Good news: The Vette driver and the instructor were both okay. and the car is fixable. I'd just never seen a wheel ripped off like that.

I've been to Barber's. A very nice facility indeed. The museum is awesome, you should take a tour through there. More Motorcycles than you can imagine.
I would love to take the Porsche school there, but I would need some of JB's money!! ;D

That Vette is exactly the reason why when I start doing Time Trials/Track Days, I'm going to start in a car that handles well but doesn't cost much. I get angry thinking about the people that barely scratched my $5k daily driver...I can only imagine how angry at myself I'd be if I caused damage to a car that's 10+ times that much...

I would love to take the Porsche school there, but I would need some of JB's money!! ;D Lol, you mean you can't afford the 2-4k ? Yeah, it's crazy...Barber's was practically in my back yard (less than an hour away) for 6 years and I've a) never been to their museum and b) only been to a track day once! My brother's best friend from HS happens to be pretty well off... (and also an only child.) His Dad had just bought a new Vette but he wasn't going to let his son drive it unless he took the driving school. So, for fun, his dad paid for himself, his wife, son, and one of his son's friends to go...and my brother was that person. lol...kinda scary, considering they let them drive a racing-setup vette and they were liable for up to 3k per person of damage on the car or whatever if they crashed... I wonder if the Porsche driving experience is the same way. I must admit, I was almost jealous for a few minutes... !! then I realized... I'll do that, sometime. I just haven't gotten around to it.........yet . haha!

Not sure what the liabilities are. Was even aware there were any with the school, thought that was included. It looked like a pretty good track.
Where are you in AL? My wife is from Hueytown.

i'm not sure about the Porsche Driving School. Knowing Barber's, insurance is included. The other school was at Roebling Road, which I think is just run a little differently...*shrugs* Barbers LOOKS like an awesome amount of fun. Great turns of course and some good elevation changes. Hopefully I'll make it out there one of these days...probably after school . Well...my hometown was Midland City, AL (haha... not on the map.... but Dothan is.)... but I went to school over in Tuscaloosa for my undergrad degree. (Univ. of Ala.) I think I know where Hueytown is...

Cool ! I have a few friends who are social workers. (Although they are all doing totally different things!) If i wasn't in music I'd probably be in special education. Of course that's totally unrelated, but I think the "noble field" thing made me think of that.

The guy messed up his entry into the esses which put him too late on the second apex. He then went two off and instead of holding it and easing it back on he...was a little more aggressive with his input and ended up pointed at the inside wall. The car should be fixable though, nothing major broken. After we put a wheel on it we drove it up onto his trailer. The bimmer was fun, and it was a good experiance running RWD (which is easier to drive than FWD) but I still miss my Civic.
Red Farmer is actually from South Florida. He worked with my Grandfather while he was an apprentice in the electrical local.
