That was a blast... biggest turn out yet 46 (including the Highway Patrolman). Good free BAR-B-Q ( Thanks CCR! Henry's Smokehouse is the BEST!) , great cars and a good overview of a wide range ofsports car racing. Tonight was road racer's night. We asked our road racing members to bring their cars, explain their class and some about their driving experience including recent competition.
Joel Barber's got a great raceworks shop. I could have spent hours roaming around in the back with the project cars. He offers custom fab , full race car maintenance, trackside service and arrive and drive programs. Well run operation and very impressive. Thanks Joel for sharing some about your business as well as Spec Racer Ford as the class to be in! When you run the numbers, he's right. Best bang for the buck out there.
We had a number of drivers bring their cars including :
John Finger's Shelby Daytona
H Prod MG Midget of Russ Hewitt
Harvey Cash's Lovely Porsche 911SC
Steve Cook's IT Mazda Rx7
Shane's Audi
And several of Joel's Spec racers... one already had a permanent driver...
and he was cool man...
Thanks to All for coming and participating. Glad to see a lot of new faces. I think everyone had a great time. Next meeting in November will be Carbotech speaking on brakes for AX and Road racing... and a report from Scott Franklin on safety equipment on a budget and safety class rules for 2008.
The growth in attendance and support is telling us this what you wanted. Please continue to attend and give us input and ideas on how to make our SWCCCR meetings better. Thanks also to all the drivers who towed or drove their cars tonight just for us to have a look.
