Ever wondered how to insert a link to a web page? Here's how...
First, the simple way, for short web site links.
Find the web site you want to link to. We'll use the main SCCA page.
Copy the web site address, with the http:// and paste it into your message.
www.scca.com/That should do it.
If not, you can highlight the entire web link and click the 2nd icon on the 2nd row.
You'll now have (without the spaces)
[ url ]
www.scca.com/ [ /url ]
So what if you want to link to a specific page and don't want the web address, just a few words. Or the link is really long...
We're going to link to the FasTrack page on SCCA's site using the word FasTrack as the link.
Again, find the web site you want.
www.scca.com/Garage/Index.asp?IdS=08E212-59C2500&x=090|005&~=That's just ugly... Plus the pipe character stops the hyperlink, so anyone clicking on it will get a bad web page.
Now, click the 2nd icon on the 2nd row again.
You'll now have (without spaces):
[ url ][ /url ]
Copy the web link from the other page.
Put your cursor after the first "url" and press equals =
You should now have:
[ url= ] (again, no spaces)
Paste your address AFTER the equals.
[ url=http://www.scca.com/Garage/Index.asp?IdS=08E212-59C2500&x=090|005&~= ]
Now between the two brackets type in the word you want as your link.
]FasTrack[
So (without spaces) you should have:
[ url=http://www.scca.com/Garage/Index.asp?IdS=08E212-59C2500&x=090|005&~= ] FasTrack [ /url ]
Which looks like this on the forum:
FasTrack
