At the end of the season, things like the team trophy and other items will have to be funded from outside of the CCR budget.
There are several things to consider. First, what should the winning team get?
-> A unique trophy every year or one that gets passed around
-> One team trophy for the entire team
-> One trophy for each driver
-> T-Shirts for each driver
Finally, how these items will be funded must be decided on by everyone:
-> One fee for the entire team paid at season start
-> One fee per driver paid at season start
-> Fee paid at every event for each driver or team
These are definitely points that we need to consider and discuss. Please provide feedback and comments. Thanks in advance.

You know....I think we should have a single trophy and do it sort of like the Stanley Cup. Each member of the winning team gets his/her name engraved on the cup. The team captain gets to hold it over the winter...while each team member gets a few days with it or something. Then at the start of the next season....it goes back to the AutoX Director or something.
As for paying for it......I guess it would probably be cool to have each team pay into a pot. I haven't priced trophies...so I don't know how much that might cost, but we could probably spread it evenly over the teams.

Well, as for funding, I can go ahead and say that I would have an easier time having the team fees split throughout the season, but that also depends on what it will end up costing. Say, for example, it's 100 per person. (and yes, i AM trying to exaggerate here...i hope it won't be nearly that much! Not unless we get a 14k gold plated trophy!) i would have a much easier time splitting that into 5 "payments" of 20 extra at each event.
As for what exactly the trophy/prize/reward should be...I'll have to think about that one.

I like the idea of a SCCA jacket or polo style shirt with some type of CCR Team Competition Patch or embroidered logo on it for the winners. Trophies just end up collecting dust in my house, but getting to wear the shirt or jacket at next seasons events is good braggin' rights!
What costs does the team entry fee need to cover, other than the season end awards.
As far as paying for it, each team member should have to pay one fixed lump sum to join the team.

So all teams will have to decide jointly what kind of awards we want, whether trophy, jacket, t-shirts, and then figure out how much each team needs to contribute, and when to contribute. |

Here are my latest thoughts on award funding:
I think we should keep the fees to a very minimum. This is mostly for fun after all. That means each driver should pay a one time fee of $3 at the beginning of the season (Points #2) and that's it. If we have 5 teams with 10 drivers, that's $150 right there.
With regards to the trophies, I think every member of the winning team should get one small trophy each, so that you'll always have something to remember the season by. Any funds left over after paying for the trophies should be donated to CCR.
Anything outside of this, whether T-shirts or Jackets, etc, can be decided by and funded by the winning team only.
What do you guys think?

I was thinking that $5-10 per team member for the whole year would get some nicer awards at the end of the season, but whatever everybody agrees on is ok. Trophies are not cheap

What's a rough per person cost for a small trophy? Take that number * 10 people per team and then divide that by the total number of people entered into the team competition on the first event, round up and we have a rough number. For each person who joins a team after that still has to pay that same amount and anything left at the end of the year goes into the CCR account.
Does this sound workable?

Steve Ekrich of Highlands has a trophy supplier that can turnaround any size order in two or three days- and cheaper than CCR has been getting them from Honorcraft. The BOD is looking into a deal with them through Steve.
OTOH, there may be an enterprising lad or lassie in our club with a welder and a creative bent who would volunteer to make a unique trophy for the pass around one.

Idea for perpetual pass-around trophy: (ripped off from another club) Get an old door skin donated and get someone to paint it - Call it "The CCR Annual Team Competition Door Prize" - each year inscribe it with the winning teams name, members names, and a pithy qoute from the winning team. The fee and what kind of trophy (or trophies) should be decided by everyone through voting. I'll setup a poll thread in the near future.
Personally I think should keep it at $5 and give every winning team member a nice trophy.
