I am interested in joining a team if anyone frees up a spot.

Unfortunately 4 of the 5 teams are filled with the maximum 12 drivers. Team Nissan has one spot left but we are reserving that for another Nissan driver who may or may not join later.
Your only opportunity would be if one of the non marque teams like Team Beer or Team Rising Tsunami drops a member due to non attendance and you can ask to be added.

Also, I was a bit surprised that more Mazda drivers didn't step up to form a team earlier in the season. There are plenty of zoom zoom drivers from different classes that would make for a very formidable team.
I think a Team Mazda next season should be definitely be considered.

Can new teams come in late? Or have we completely closed the door?
Maybe he can get 5 or 6 Miatas together...

I'm not one to make a decision on that myself, I think the team captains have to chime in on that.
Personally, I think at this point any new team may not be competitive after two events, and existing teams might feel slighted that their points are potentially being affected if they finish behind the new team.

I would agree with you Steve. Ample time was given prior to the start of the season for team formation.

Like I said, if a spot frees up somewhere, I would be interested. The teams I am eligible for filled up before I jumped on one, and then it was expanded to 12 per team, and I found out too late about that. So if you fire one of your team members.....

YEah...that's a valid point. No reason to let a team in just to play spoiler. Maybe for next season there will be more teams.

Well, not to be a stick in the mud...but...I would have to agree that we had plenty of time to put together teams....Team Beer was carefully assembled in 3 days (we took the first 10 participants...had a couple leftovers..and ended up with 12 before we were even allowed 12). And - I think the members of Team Beer would be quite upset to lose a solid last place ranking because some late-arriving team had fewer points simply because of a lack of participation..... Actually....I could care less - the point is fun, Fun, FUN!!! and it is more fun to play in a team....So if someone wants a Miata, Mazda or whatever team...go for it. Now, I would say that I have noticed a lot of class cooking going on....suggestions of changing parts/pieces and swapping/stealing cars so that they can run in classes to "improve" rankings.....That approach is simply beneath Team BEER......we might switch from Lagers to Ales, but to change car classes just to gain an edge.....well...that would require too much thinking and not enough drinking... I think next year we should have a rule regarding class swapping....or glass swapping.

I tried to see if any other Mazdas were interested, but knew I could not take on Team Captain myself so didn't push it too hard. Outside of running with other Mazdas I hoped there would be a Team Japan, which did happen -- ended up being Team Rising Tsunami. Next year though -- Team Zoom Zoom! Mazdas unite!

Well, we might be creating an opening in team beer....(insert Phhhtttt sound here). But, that will depend on if one of our early members gets his car completed by the next event. So, stay in touch with me.

Mr. Truk41 - we now have an opening in Team Beer....One of our members has requested a shift to "associate" status (thus allowing him to continue to enjoy quality beverages), but cannot drive the remainder of the year...something to do with a dislocated shoulder injury while trying to install a new beer fridge in his garage (at least that is my story and I am sticking to it). So - if still intereseted - PM me. I will send you one today.
