Some of you know me as the guy with the Silver Solstice that was doing pretty well last year. Since that car died a couple months ago I am now running a new 07 RX8, killer deals to be had on the 07's still in stock. Mar 30th will be my first event in the car and I'll be running her totally stock, as delivered (so I could run tire class at this event). Over the next month or so I'll be prepping her for the Atlanta doublecross and National Tour coming up in May. I'm interested in joining a team and I need to renew my SCCA membership soon too -Miles

The day after it snowed in January it was very icy the next morning and I didn't make 1/2 mile from my apartment before I ended up going backwards down an on ramp to 77. I ended up sliding over a big cement drain pipe, right to left, which bent a lot a stuff. All in all the car was drivable after the accident but the passenger side frame rail was bent upwards about 2-3 inches, pushing into the door. GM currently does not make a replacement rail for the Solstice so even though it was repairable due to lack of parts it was a total loss. I made out well with the insurance company and I now have a much nicer car for the same money I paid for the Solstice.
Moral of the story: 265 wide Michelin PS2 summer-only tires really don't mix with ice.
