I'm skipping FSP in the interest of safety and going straight to EP and the Fiesta/Festiva crowd. In EP I get to run disc brakes. Undecided on wheels and tires right now, the 13" plans are getting complicated..........
And 14" tires are just not as good variety wise.

Do you drive an original Beetle? ;D I've been working on restoring one and am trying to pick up one to autocross. The one I own is an early 64 model and the one I'm planning on autocrossing after I pick it up (long story) is a 67. What year is yours?

Mine is the orange 73 Super Beetle. Beware Autocross in the swing axle! A camber compensator is required, but they're just not as fast as the IRS rear. Is the 67 real rough that making a racer is the only option? They are one of the most sought after years for the various one-year only items. Whatever you do, bring it out next year! Greg

Greg I'd heard about the swing axle problem but hadn't heard anything to do to fix it...thanks so much. I had decided that once I finished restoring the 63 I'd bring it to an autocross just for fun. (Still has the original 1300cc engine, lol!) But I was worried about the swing axle problem and I know I would cry if I flipped my bug after working so hard on it! You know.....honestly, I don't remember if 67 was the right year or not. That's what I thought it was, but I may be wrong. I actually haven't seen the car yet...it's a guy one of my best friends knows who just wants it out of his yard but it has a few small electrical issues. The reason why I wanted to bring it out is cause the guy says he had the engine worked on so it's a reliable 112 hp or so. 1725cc instead of 1600. Lol the other reason why I wanted to bring it out was cause it's still in one piece whereas my 63 isn't.......

"So next year the Tire Class won't get kicked around by Steve (who is moving to G Stock) but won't have Greg to kick around either - darn - it just won't be the same!" Wait a minute! You call beating a $1500 4 cylinder econobox with a 15k 6cyl sports car by a few tenths kicking around? ? What would you call loosing to it at the 24hr by over a sec? I'll miss the friendly competition, I'll tell you that. ;D

I'll miss the friendly competition, I'll tell you that. ;D - I don't know who's $15k 6cyl sports car you are referring to (obviously mine is worth a lot more than that ;D) - 24 hr event was a total bust for me - i had so many problems i didn't even take all my timed runs - it was so bad that when I gave up and went to load the car to leave I had to jump start my tow vehicle. - of course i was only kidding with the "won't have Greg to kick around" remark - I have enjoyed the friendly competition (and kidding) with all the clowns in the tire class - and you will be missed - but I'm pretty sure we can find somebody else to kick around next year. (yeah I'm kidding again - sorry - I can't help it) Cheers, Jack Mc

No harm no foul. ;)Glad you have a sense of humor about these things! I think everyone has a bummer weekend where nothing seems to go right. Mine was the last event. I had a great last run, but the cones got me at the end. I think if I had more developement time I could do better with the car in that class, but it was getting to the point where I had to buy parts to do so, and those parts would not have been usable once I di move up. So rather than buy them twice...........
