CHIP HERR TO COMPETE IN V8 STOCKCAR ROAD RACE SERIES AT VIR
Chip Herr, Mazda factory SPEED World Challenge driver of the TINDOL MOTORSPORTS Mazda 6 will compete in the V8 StockCar road race at Virginia International Raceway May 10th. Herr will be driving a V8 SPO Chevrolet Monte Carlo owned by "Squeak Kennedy and "Bosco" Logsdon of Daytona Beach. Herr is looking to gain some seat time in stock cars prior to his scheduled run in the ARCA/ReMax series this September at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The V8 StockCar Series is a points championship 10 race weekend series for big bore V8 GT and stock cars competing at SCCA sanctioned events in the south and east. The race weekend is hosted by the North Carolina Region of SCCA at their annual Al Fairer SARRC Challenge. Herr, who is fresh from a pole winning, track record setting run in his Mazda at VIR, April 25th, has had a quick rise into the ranks of professional racing. Herr, just twenty five years old from Lititz, PA burst onto the World Challenge scene by winning three races in 2006 and one 2007 in the STaSiS Engineering Audi, along with a host of top fives. Among the road racing stars Herr had to beat were Randy Pobst and Pierre Kleinubing. Herr's performance over the past two years secured him a coveted spot as one of just four Mazda factory drivers in North America.
