Thanks to everyone for a great First Round of the Continental Tire Triple Crown Series. I hear the social was pretty darn good Sunday night...wish I could've been there. Big thanks as well for all that helped us out Sunday getting the car back together, Bob Thornton, MattP, Steven Rankins, Steve E. and his Dually and especially Willie Stock, this is what makes this sport great. It was the first hit for me in my race car, thank to all who helped and encouraged me to get back at it today. See you at Wolf Ridge in a few days

He went off after turn 3 and crunched the driver's side rear. I actually had my first on-track spin this weekend. During my 2nd lap out during Sunday's practice I spun my MR2 (also right after turn 3, oddly enough). Fortunately, my car stayed on the track the whole time, though. That'll teach me to practice on my street tires...lol :-p

I tried to take turn 3 in 4th while accelerating...I can't do it...maybe you can... Went off drivers right exiting 3, over rumble strips...saw the green tire wall coming up fast...almost wet myself...tried to get back on track...it's just like they say, do that and you end up driver's left into the tire wall/AARMCO...backwards in my case, thankfully. The car is fine, Ray drove it to a quite nice 3rd of 10, I got 5th and didn't f it up anymore...good job TJ! Willie just about got Jeff but it will have to wait until next year. I hear there's video of some of it.

Only 0.3 sec off Mark in 5th, now I wish I had gone out for another session! I was glad to see Mark and Ray got their car fixed.
I should also thank Brian for giving me one of those chain link things to hold a ramp on my trailer. The cheapo padlock I had been using disappeared overnight. Who takes a padlock without the key?!

Yes, I would say that the downhill runoff at Turn 3 is the most likely place to get to a wall on the entire track. I always warn folks about that one.

Mark, Glad you are okay...lots of Miatas. Only one Mark. Sue said she was planning on having you last her a life time. And after hard work of Mark, Willie, Steve, Steven and others... and a well placed Sponsor Spokes model... you didn't even notice it. Sorry that happened but great to see the "family" there willing to take care of "family". We have a great bunch of people in this club.

Glad to see you're ok Mark! I can relate, 4th gear & accelerating is no time to go off Even more glad to see you were able to keep on going afterwards. If you were closer I'd be happy to dip into my spare parts bin (meager as it is).

It's just a flesh wound Mike. Glad you got back on the horse though. Looks like you just missed the fuel filler.
Time for a new drivers suit? ;D

It really shows the beauty and simplicity of Miata's taking a hit like that and then getting back out racing the next day. Hopefully it didn't make as big of a dent in the pocketbook. I'm glad to see you made it through the incident without injury.

I have in-car footage of the wild off. Nick was driving and we had the camera on. I will try and get that up if I can this weekend.

Hang in there Mark...
don't let Ray beating you get to you.
Or next thing you know, it starts eating at you... you can't sleep... and you start thinking of changing classes... and then you go looking for an old A Mod hillclimb car to restore... and thennnnnnn...
Yeah...forget that.....that's pretty crazy. No one would do that!!!!! ;D
