I have a question about car modification and class. The answer may be in the 2006 rules but I'm not sure.
My car is currentlly in DSP due to my steering wheel and a few other mods. I have a supercharger that I may be able to put on my car. It uses an external drive belt. I know that installing the supercharger would put me in street mod.
My question is if the unit is on the car but is disabled by removing the drive belt, can I keep my car in DSP?

By the absolute letter of the rules it is probably not legal, but someone would have to be a complete moron to protest over that, since you would be making LESS power than stock in that configuration (due to the intake restriction of the S/C) and carrying around more weight, too.
On the other hand...leave it on and come play in Street Mod! ;D

Ha ha ha, funny. I would join SM but I am trying to stick to DSP for the entire year, for points. I know I would loose power but I think I would be willing to sacrifice it for the gain on the street. ;D Not saying i drive fast on the street or anything.

Any other opinions, how about JByrd or LagunaMiata? SaabStory?
I'm going to check the rules now, maybe I can find a loophole that will allow me to leave it on there. If not, no biggy, I just won't put it on.

Ok, I read through the rules. It doesn't mention anything about what I want to do. It is pretty simple in saying a supercharger cannot be added in street prepared. It says nothing about whether it is disabled or not.
Huh, o well.

Any other opinions, how about JByrd or LagunaMiata? SaabStory? Yes. I think you're Looney Tunes! No wait a minute - I didn't say that! ;D However, what you're asking/saying makes absolutely no sense to me. You know you can run SM all year for points too. And...you'd probably be the best looking guy in SM to boot! ;D ;D

Ha ha ha, well thanks JB. Looney I am, but I am going to stick with DSP for the year, better chances of coming out on top at the end of the year. It may be nice to get a big tropie.

Well, maybe - if our trophies were big....but I think what the gents are saying is if you have the SC, you may as well enjoy it - even if you give up some points. Faster is funner. I am moving from a stock class to prepared, just so I can go faster. I don't expect in my first year to do anything stupendous. (Colin might !?!?!) But it is always nice to be a bit further up the chart. Besides, we all like the sound of a SC - so bring it on!
