My daily driver is a 1990 Miata with a hardtop. I'm wanting to get my wife licensed for hillclimbs with this car. I already plan on putting a Solo I legal Hard Dog bar in it, a Corbeau Forza seat and a 6 point harness. What else does it HAVE to have. I'm wanting to avoid the remote power switch if possible. No problem on the fire extinguisher. I think that CSP rules are closest to what I want to do, but is there a hillclimb legal class that is a better choice for this idea? Thanks.

Scott,
Non-GCR cars are not required to have the kill switch. It's recommended but not required.
You will need the fire extinguisher (2+ lbs Halon or dry chemical) as you mentioned. You will also need arm restraints, and all harnesses must be up to date.
CSP or SM2 is where you'd fall depending on what has been done to the car.

Scott:
Matt is correct in all that he says. Do keep in mind that Time Trial and Hillclimb now fall under Club Racing and there is a strong movement on the National Board to make all of our cars come up to GCR standards. In my opinion, we should go back to Solo I standards which have served us well for a very long time.
Arm restraints or window net, fire extinguisher, Hard Dog all "required" along with up-to-date personal equipment. Nice to have: kill switch, tow hook (otherwise, we have to strap to your roll bar) and a host of others.
TT's and HC's are the best bang for the buck. We are going to try to "up" the number of Time Trial track events this year along with our relationship with SCR, we hope to grow some more "afflicted" drivers. Nice to have another woman in the mix.
