Oh wow!!!! THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!
Way to go! Rich I want to know who set that up and thank him personally. Fantastic.
I know he ran a sprite in autocrosses for a while and ran hillclimbs and then he got the Cobra. If I remember correctly, I was thinking he ran Chimney Rock once. I am sure he ran Beech Mountain with us once. I would love to hear what he had to say about that!!!!
Good job on a speaker. Can't wait! THANKS! Ted

Thank our fearless leader, Mr. McCollister. He sent me the message last night.

For all of you hillclimb nuts (myself included), ask him about racing in a Legends car in "Super Unlimited" at Pike's Peak!! I remember watching when he did this and thinking that he was completely nuts. IIRC, he got a podium, too!! He raced at the Petit LeMans a couple of years ago in the BK Motorsports Mazda LMP-2 car. I was working Turn 8 and one morning before first practice, he rode his mountain bike all of the way out there to thank us for being there. (If you haven't been to Road Atlanta, I challenge you to walk from the pro paddock all of the way to the Turn 8 station. Not an easy feat for a much younger man!

EFR also compete with the Legends car at the fall Beech Mountain Hillclimb the same year he won the Daytona 24 hour. I forget the year, but it was the only fall date. A great representative for our sport. He like Randy Pobst got his start in autocross, I remember reading.

I met EFR at Road Atlanta in the early 80's when he was driving Camel GT. Most of the drivers were all in their tents and haulers ignoring everyone and he invited us to come in and sit down. Always remembered that and have always been a big fan of his. We had a blast at Beech MTN with he and his son. He would keep trying to retire and would show up at Daytona to help with testing. Always turned out to be the fastest driver so they just put him in the race. A real class act.
