Hey Estus, Any chance of adding SPU to the CCPS? I would LOVE to get my Baby Grand out there with you guys! At the moment, my lap times are close to SRF. I hope that they will get faster with practice. The Rx7 is not cooperating at the moment. Hope to have it ready by the Memorial Monster. Scott Franklin www.NutDriver.org

What can we do to limit potential speed for not just you but all the other spu cars out there? I don't want anything any faster than the fastes CCPS class now. If you can come up with a proposed rule that will assure that the cars can't obtain lap times any faster than current CCPS class lap times, I'll consider it. Posibilitys might include running a DOT tire. I am also considering a limited SPU class to run the Allison Legacy cars limited to Allison rules. As their rules are written, they should run about fast ITB/slow ITA times.
Let's talk Estus

If you run the Baby Grand cars at MMRA spec, that should put them right in the mix with the Allison Legacy cars. MMRA specs include a spec Hoosier race tire and the engines have to be the Yamaha FJ engines, much like the Legends cars. Unlike the Legends cars, the engines don't have to come from 600 Racing's engine shop. However, Curt Andrews at Andrews Motorsports in Concord is now an official dealer for Baby Grands. He builds BG and Legends "open" engines. He has also been putting FJs in the Pro Challenge cars. One of Curt's engines puts out about 125hp in a 1250# car on spec tires. Not sure how much the Allison cars put out. With the Pro Challenge cars, they'll be a little heavier. Curt can be reached at (704) 782-6134. Pete Neimeyer runs BabyGrandRacing.com and he can give you any major details you want about MMRA rules. John Litzinger owns Pro Challenge. I don't have his contact info, but he's on the internet. Would be awesome to have a limited prep sort of SPU class.

Let me ammend what I'd said. One of Curt's FJ engines is about 125hp. My car weighs about #1250 without me in it. Pro Challenge cars (IIRC) are a little more. I have the BG spec tires on my FJ-powered Baby Grand. Not sure what I'm going to run on the Hayabusa-powered Baby Grand. Will have to see if the spec tire will survive and perform.
