im new to the site and dont know much about the snell rating system i was wondering if a snell rated M2000 helmet would pass the inspection?

Yep. Until the M2010 helmets come out, M95, M2000, and M2005 are all acceptable. After that, the M95 helmets will no longer be legal.

...and even the Snell 95 helmets will be legal until the end of the 2010 season (as they expire the end of the year in which the new specs are released, not immediately upon release of the new SNELL spec).
So a SNELL 2000 helmet (M or SA) will be legal for autocross until the end of 2015.

Snell M rated helmets are legal for AUTO X ONLY!! You must have an SA2000 or SA2005 for it to be legal for club racing. Not sure for hillclimbs. Steve Eckerich would have to answer that.

Hillclimbs / Time Trials use the same helmet rule as club racing (SA only, current + previous spec).
