I am new to the ccrscca region and have a question about car class. I have a 91 Miata that I believe fits into CSP based on the very useful diy-classing pdf. One think I wasn't sure about is carpet has been removed since it was is rough shape when I bought the car? It has all the door panels, dash, softtop, ect.
I signed up for the April event and looking forward to it!!! Thanks!! Scott

A 91 Miata is either ES if stock, STS if lightly modified and on street tires, CSP with more mods and DOT-legal race tires, DP with even more mods and true racing slicks. The exception is a Spec Miata race car, it's in DSP.
Carpet is supposed to be in the car for Street Prepared. Pulling carpet puts a car into the Prepared class.
I really doubt anyone in CSP will care about the pulled carpet, especially if you're pretty new to autocross.
Hope that helps!!

DP it is. I wish I still had that carpet... Can I change my class in myautoevents.com?
Thanks for the information!

But I think you have to plead your case to the solo chair? Or your fellow competitors in CSP. I think that is how I read it in the rule book.

OK. Thanks for the information! Maybe i'll check with other CSP drivers. Heck, the weight of the rollbar more than offsets the weight reduction of carpet...
Thanks for all the information and I am really excited about the event!

What Gary said is right... for the most part, if you ask the other CSP guys they won't care. You can change class at the event, while registration is open, if needed.
