I would like to invite you to attend our July SWCCCR meeting on July 9th! We will be meeting at a new location :
Chief’s Wings and Firewater at 723 Congaree Road behind Haywood Mall just off 3-85 in Greenville, SC
We will have several cars on display in front of Chiefs including :
John Finger’s Reynard Hillclimb car which will debut at the August 1st Eagle’s Nest Hillclimb
Marc Osgood will be bringing his charged Honda Hatch with a newly installed roll cage.
Ted Theodore’s Bandit AR-1 which won the last Chimney Rock Hillclimb in 1995
Joel Barber’s Porsche 944 Spec Racer
Dinner will be from 6 to 7 (I highly recommend the Teriyaki Wings) and we will meet from 7 to 8:45. I think you will find a diverse menu with wings, shrimp, steaks, sandwichs, nachos, wraps, salads, and some great desserts! chiefsonline.com/store_details.php?store=greenville
We will re-cap recent motorsports events, cover all up-coming autocrosses, car shows, time trials, hillclimbs and road races. We’ll cover the recent SC Region Time Trial at Roebling Road, plans for the 2 day autocross at Michelin's Black Lake July 18th and 19th as well as the Eagle’s Nest Hillclimb in Banner Elk, NC on August 1st and 2nd. (We’ll see if we can get John to tell us a little about his new car.) We’ll have some news on the Eurofest Car Show to be held at BMW manufacturing in Spartanburg on October 16 - 18. Dwayne Mosley will be on hand to cover his recent success driving in the One Lap of America! We’ll have time for swap and sale so bring description of junk/treasures you wish to move.
Our speaker for the meeting will be Steve Eckerich (Regional executive of the Central Carolina’s Region of the SCCA) and the topic will be roll cages. Steve will be explaining rules on Time Trial and Road Racing cages and what to look for when purchasing a race car. After his presentation, we’ll have a brief panel discussion on roll bars, kits, fabrication and SCCA vs NASA rules with Steve, Joel Barber of Barber Raceworks of Greenville and Steve Hampton of Chap Racing in Piedmont. We will have question answer time at the end. Whether you are thinking about buying a car in the future, building a car up now, worrying about meeting tech requirement or concerned with safety, this discussion can save you time, money and maybe more.
We’ll look forward to having you with us. Bring a friend… we have room for 60+ people at Chiefs and alcohol will be available. Hope you like our new format and location.
Thanks! Ted Theodore tedagmar@juno.com
