How difficult is it to install a fuel cell into the hatch of a hatchback? What parts do I need to purchase? Who has hints and pointers they can give me?

What class and intended use? Requirements vary based on if it's for autocross, time trials, or road racing.
Typically you'll need to make a metal cover for the cell in a car where there's no bulkhead between driver and fuel cell.
Have to find a way to mount the cell by building a frame for it.
And of course you'll need all the fittings and whatnot to plumb it into the fuel system.

It is not overly difficult. I didn't realy help with the project, but it is in an 83 Rabbit.

The car is our FSP autocross 1989 Ford Probe LX. We are having fuel pickup issues. We had a fuel leak at the pump hanger that is bolted to the top of the stock tank. We tried new seals and sealant but they did not help. So, I went mad and used Magnum Steel epoxy all around the pump hanger plate thingy. That fixed the leak.
At Michelin, I had severe fuel pick up problems, now I have to get back in the tank. So at the least, I need to remove the tank and chisel off that epoxy. I thought if it came to purchasing a new tank, I'd rather install a fuel cell and external pump. The car could possibly be used in time trials sometime in the future.

If cash were no object, I'd start now. I haven't won the lottery yet. Lately I've been trying to get my Neon going again. Freakin' computer keeps telling me my cam timing is off. It ain't, I checked it last week and even put a new belt and tensioner on today.
