I need to get some new tires that will be daily drivers and for autocross. I am considering the Dunlop Direzza's or Continential DW's. Does anyone use the Direzzas as a daily driver, wondering how many miles they might last?
Thanks for any input.

Andy,
I used the Star Specs last year as daily driver and autocross. I really liked them. I put probably 7k street miles and about a years worth of autocrosses on them (including the 24 hour event) and they are down to the wear bars now, but I still was using them at Knight races and still could for a bit... other than I am getting another set of wheels and tires for that.
Anyway, I give them 2 thumbs up. for a dual purpose tire that does really good at autocross.
Thanks,
Michael

The Kuhmo MX has a high rating from Grassroots motorsports and they are significantly cheaper than the Dunlops

The Kuhmo MX has a high rating from Grassroots motorsports and they are significantly cheaper than the Dunlops Unfortunately, they don't sell them in the sizes I need. 235 or 245/ 40 or 35 /18 front 255/35/18 rear Only Bridgestone, Dunlop, Yokohama, Conti, Michelin. Dunlop and Conti are cheapest.

As far as DD on the new DW's, that is unknown with how new they are(chime in 42AutoSports). As far as racing on them, I hear they are fantastic. In rain conditions they have been claimed to be better than Hoosier Rains. The Direzza's I continue to hear nothing but good about. Most commonly they are a one year dual purpose tire, unless you drive them from Charlotte, NC to New Jersey Motorsports for a track day and back in an S2000 CR. Only real downfall is the pricing, but no worries.
Good luck on the choice Andy. Hope the BMW project build comes along well.

there was a major toe issue that caused that. it was not the tires fault. just buy a miata. everything is cheap for miatas. contis are going to be much easier to live with day to day, kick ass wet tire also dry grip goes to the dunlops. even jay managed to get nearly a year from his.

I would not do it. I never intended on driving on them everyday, but it ended up that way when I got lazy after the event last June. Left them on until after Black Lake in July last year. Of course, I never wore them completely out, but they were getting there.

Thanks everyone for the input, I think this confirmed that I should go with the Conti's. A good tire that will last a while.
Thanks, Andy
