I ran across a 914 parked in someone's yard last weekend that needs more work than I'm willing to deal with, but maybe one of you might be interested? He talked himself down to $650 before I left.
The Bad: Body's a little rough, with some rust around the driver's door area. Rear suspension seems to sit WAY too low to be good. Ran until about 7 months ago, when a hole in the fuel line caused a small engine fire, scorching some of the wiring. No other fire or smoke damage that I could see, though. Interior looks like it's about 40 years old.
The Good: Headlights still pop up and work. Car still has original engine and has not been converted to carburetor yet...about 66,000 miles. Looks to be mostly all original.
If anyone's looking for a project, and this sound's interesting to you, let me know and I'll give you the guy's name and number.

I bet Nick Hallman could use another 914... maybe he could make one good one out of the two! :-)

I've heard about his 914, but thought maybe I didn't know him or the car well enough to make the same suggestion. ;D

$650? That's not bad, even if it is a rust bucket.
However, I need another 914 like a hole in the head...

Lol, is this thing on "Piedmont st" or "Piedmont rd" and is it orange? I think I passed it the other day.

Yeah, that's the one, off Piedmont Hwy (Hwy 20). Depending on the year it's either "signal orange" or "nepal orange". Real nice guy, I just talked to him again to let him know I won't be buying it.
