The SS Jag was really cool, as was the "Genuine" AC Cobra 289, complete with Carroll Shelby Signatures.. Not every day you see a million dollar car at a cruise-in. We talked to quite a few people attending for the first time.

Here are my photos from yesterday: www.flickr.com/photos/chkltcow/sets/72157628276090671/It was an interesting month.... some really cool cars out there including the AC Cobra, the Noble M400, and the "deuce and a half" cargo truck. Eric had a great idea for marketing and recruiting people for our events, but I don't want to rain on his parade so I'll let him announce it and i'll try to help with the organization if I can

Eric had a great idea for marketing and recruiting people for our events, but I don't want to rain on his parade so I'll let him announce it and i'll try to help with the organization if I can Basically - I think these cruise-ins are fertile ground for recruiting. Certainly, the guy with that old SS jag or the Duece and a half are not going to Autocross... But alot of the tuner and Euro-car people that show up would be interested in a LEGAL and SAFE way to "exercise" their rides. Stevens "Duckworks" Miata decked out with numbers and all attracted alot of attention, I've put together a poster of Z3elda AX pix that gets a good reception. Just a folding table and a simple display of photos and flyers explaining autocross.. maybe one of those portable dvd players looping some Autocross runs.. Some of us are going to these things anyway, just a little more effort could go a long way. We'll discuss it with Aj and company next weekend Steve. I'd like some official input before we get too deep into planning.

I'm constantly pushing to get more of my friends out to AutoX, I'm sponsoring one guy this time to get him out there running. Hoping to run this weekend, just gotta wait to see if the insurance check makes it here Friday or not so I can go pick up my new car. www.photomyevents.com/Cars/AutoX/CCR-Folger-Subaru-AX-9/i-ndZh5Vm/0/L/DSC2155-L.jpgI got all these guys to come out from Greensboro area trying to convince them to run.

Sounds like a good idea Eric. It is like me advertising my abilities of working on cars through the race machines I build. My true potential in that aspect comes out 2012.
AutoFair is a nice way to achieve same goal. Smaller meets may prove more worthwhile with big car nuts. I also want to focus on the quality of our program as well.

I try and convince the people I know to go to autocross. Seriously, if they have a car and are even 1/100th of a car enthusiast, I'll tell them about what autocross is. For some reason when I mention the price: Me: "its like $30-40 to do 4 runs, its really fun!" Them: "sounds like a rip off for only 4 runs.." *facepalm* then I try to explain it to them in a different way, works sometimes, sometimes it doesnt. Some laaaaame people get real bothered about it "i could damage my car!", no, dude, you can't, unless you REALLY are garbage at driving, or roll your car from a cone. Also, what bothers me even more, is those people who REGULARLY drive dangerously on roads, and then refuse to go to autocross because its either too 'organized' or something about it makes them nervous - like making left and right turns... See what I have to work with?? BTW! Z3lda, I saw you at CnC. I just realized it was you (..kinda late i know). I was walking to the noble or Murc, and you were leaving that lot and I walked in your path Greetings! I noticed the 'race' Miata too. It attracted my attention. I think its a great idea to promote to those younger guys with STis+Evos+etc, having a car like that, they must love driving and what better way to drive than full-on, in a safe environment, competitively against time?

I get much the same response from my co workers - worreid about ruining their cars... Bahhh! The thing to do is: Invite them to come and WATCH.. it costs NOTHING to watch, and there's usually somebody that will give them a ride-along. Actual experience in the car is a real eye opener, even to those that "think" they push their cars on the street.

I edited together all my videos from the season last night. I just need to find a good way to display them at Cars & Coffee without having to worry about my Nook or Netbook being swiped if I walk away. Any ideas?

Steven - been emailing with Aj on this idea.. I'd like to get a cheapo portable DVD player (maybe 2) to do this with. I'm figuring when we get full tilt with the idea, we'll have a folding table with some info. We can take turns manning the station and walking around. Hoping it's more than just you and me.. :-)
Can your video be put into standard DVD video format?

Jeannie and i took a TV to Autofair a few years ago, with intent to play an auto-x dvd. Sadly our setup did not take into account that in bright sunlight, the screen was impossible to view. Just something to think about. Hope you have better luck.

Do you folks park together or is it a get in where you fit in?

Mostly just wherever we can fit in. I've been trying to park over on the side near Olive Garden so there's space around me for anyone else that wants to join.

Another awesome Cars-n-Coffee! Bunch of CCR people came out to show off. THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING OUT AND REPRESENTING! Cars with numbers attract attention, and we are making connections with potential drivers and members at every show.
New thread coming shortly to discuss how to make this bigger.

Alright, who is planning on coming out this Saturday? I will actually be able to make this one. Looks like the weather is 40's and cloudy, but no rain right now. Clouds don't attract nice cars, but hopefully turnout will still be good. I hope to meet a fellow driver coming up from Columbia in south Charlotte and cruising the rest of the way there together. Let me know if anyone else wants to join.

Ted - Tony Parrish is usually there, and Steven Duckworth has a decent camera as well - I can see if they'll forward some to you for an article.
