I've trolled the forums looking for this answer but didn't find it. How are car numbers assigned? Is it first come-first serve at registration or is there a permanant number registration process? I registered for Zmax but didn't put in a car number because I don't know the process for that.

Your choice. It is first serve. Look at your class and see what numbers are used already and pick one that fits you, that isn't in use. CCR really doesn't use permanant numbers.

Yes though other means are prefered. For example, magnets are the most popular. Permanent vinyl is a personal option as well. For temporary, painters tape is the most commonly used. Best thing would be to print out out numbers and letters, from the pdf file that Rich has provided us, and tape them to the car. It comes down to personal preference, but make sure they are visible and high contrast to car color.

Actually, while AJ is correct by saying yes, it is a "qualified yes." It depends on what color you car is. If you use blue tape, it must be visible against the background color of your car.
Repeating what AJ says, the best thing is to do is to print off the numbers and tape them to your car. One thing you should learn early in your autocross career is to be considerate of corner workers whom need to be able to read your numbers.

My whole attitude as a first-time novice is that I am a guest asking for the priviledge to run. I want to comply with the rules and certainly NOT be a problem or burden to anyone. I also don't want is to be embarrassed by not anticipating a requirement ahead of time. I'll print some numbers and bring the tape too. I'll order legal magnetic numbers after I have a few events uinder my belt and am comfortable with a number. Thank You Solo Vets!

When you register you'll see a link on the registration site to PDF's with class letters and numbers. I try to make it easy...
See ya in a few weeks!

Sorry JB, should of asked the color of the car and mentioned contrast first huh.
That is a good way to approach it. We are all willing to help you out. All you have to do is ask as you have been.

No apology needed, AJ. The color issue is something for which us old guys are "more aware." We can't see as well as you young guys.
