Hey guys I'm Lee Taylor, new to the SCCA, Looking to get involved in Auto-X with my 1999 Pontiac GrandPrix GTP Coupe. I'm going to school at Belmont Abbey College studying their Motorsports Management Program. I have been around Drag racing all my life but have been drawn toward the idea of car control. Looking to learn a lot and maybe unlock some skill. I hope I can get to the next meeting to meet some of you guys and ladies. Hope you all had a good holiday. Thanks Lee Taylor

Also, after looking over the DIY classing i'm not sure where my GTP would fall. It has been equip from the previous owner with a CAI, slotted Rotors (far as I know stock calipers), a after market exhaust, and 17inch rims, 225 tires. Also I was wondering if the club gives you a car # or if you make your own. Thank again guys Lee Taylor

Welcome aboard Lee! Good to have you with us!
You'll enjoy hanging out with this bunch, learn a lot about car control and find some great resources to further develop your machine! Sounds like you are off to a great start with development.
Look forward to seeing you at some autocross events in 2011. Happy New Year!
Ted

Welcome, Lee! Did you ever get any help on your car class? How about your numbers? I am no tech wiz at figuring out car classes (other than reading the rulebook).
As far as numbers, I can make numbers out of white magnetic material for you for $20 per set. You can paint them whatever color you like if you happen to have a white car.

Thanks, happy to get started. No I did not get help on the car class. I appreciate the offer I might take you up on it once I get going, while im on here again I had a few more questions: 1) must I attend the Fed Auto-X event to be in competitive in Novice point 2) is the Fed event required foe me to get involved this year 3) is there a cost for the novice school 4) Is there any paper work I need to fill out to become a proper CCR member, or just show up at a meeting? I know i ask a lot of questions, but im tryn to take n as much as possible

I'll do my best to answer...
1) must I attend the Feb Auto-X event to be in competitive in Novice point CCR's Novice championship is a year long competition. If you want to win the championship, try to make all the events.
2) is the Feb event required foe me to get involved this year Nope, but its one of the best sites around.
3) is there a cost for the novice school Yes, I haven't posted the cost yet, but last year was $45, including lunch. I expect this years will be the same.
4) Is there any paper work I need to fill out to become a proper CCR member, or just show up at a meeting? You can attend any of the meetings without being a member. You can even run the autocrosses without being a member (it just costs $10 more). If you want to join at the autocross, print off the membership app from the SCCA site, fill it out and bring it along.
Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Ok thanks, I m already a SCCA member but because my permanent residence is in the eastern part of the state CCR is not I disagreeigned club. Is there a way to transfer this? I go to school in Charlotte/Belmont area, so this is where I will run.

Just call SCCA and ask them to change you region of record. Our region is Central Carolinas #61. If CCR's region dues are greater than your current region, there may be a charge.

You don't have to be a member of CCR to compete in the SOLO championship. All we ask is that you're a SCCA member.

Hi Lee. I just realized who you are. I met you briefly at the FIY Garage this past Saturday. I was working on TheCarChic's Mini Cooper. Hope fully you can get in next week to do the work on your car. Look forward to having another Camaro out there, not enough running autocross.

jbyrd and lagunamiata: thanks guys, I'm obviously still tryn to get my ducks together.
Roadboy: Hey man, I'm looking forward to getting her in there on Tuesday. Right now she needs a oil change before we take off to Florida next week. And a realignment sometime, pot-wholes suck around here. I saw your CRX, it looked good.
Eventually I will learn all your names lol

Hi Lee:
Hope to see you at the next event. I'm a Pontiac guy also. Mine is a little more modified than your's, so I cannot help you with the class question. You can allways run EM with me! LOL
Sorry, that's a bad idea for you! I will bring the rule book and we can look together and see where you belong. Welcome!

I'll try to break the classing down. The cai bumps you out of stock as do the plus size wheels so we are talking an Street Touring class, the rotors are the sticky point those bump you to STX. The good news is you will likely be running novice so you won't have to take on the STX elite.

ok cool, thanks Phil. and for the record, Cleo should grace us at auto-fair, I think it would show that CCR is not completely all about racing.
