As the title says CCR is in need of members that would be willing to learn our Road Race timing and scoring system. It is not much different from that used for the AX program except we use transponders instead of lights. We have 2 weekends planned for 2012 that need your help. Memorial Monster at CMP and the August weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We will cover your motel room and feed you for both weekends. We would like to get some volunteers now so we can help with training and let you attend a race at the end of this year, or early next year to get some experience. We have used other regions members this year with mixed results so we need to be more independent going forward. Revenue from our Road Race program is mixed with procedes from other programs in CCR to buy equipment and supplies so we have the best events possible. We have fun with this so it it not really work, Just ask AJ. ;D He has been doing an incredible job with pit road steward this year. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'll talk to my wife about it. I volunteered for F&C for the first time at the recent Daylight into Darkness race at CMS, and she had asked if there's anything she'd be able to do. I told her a background in accounting and the ability to use a computer would be nice if she wanted to do Timing & Scoring.... plus she'll usually be in air conditioned goodness while I'm out sweltering in the heat with cars flying at me She seemed interested, so give me a few days to pester her about it and see if she'll come out and be willing to learn.

Texted her to ask about it and got a resounding "Sure... I guess" in response. She wants to know if there's any information she can read to have an idea of how things usually work.

Steven ... THANKS for stepping up and helping out. IF you can manage getting your wife/best friend involved...all the better. There are a number of couples you will see working at these events. What's the old saying... "you come for the racing... you stay for the friends and the fun". You get involved in these events for about a year and you will look at people that are friends of yours and wonder what they do with all their spare time. It's hard to be running timing and scoring with 30 cars on track, or flagging a wild race with cars flying left and right, or running a pace car... and then go into work monday and listen how your workmates..."painted a bird bath" ... or "finally got around to that much needed weeding in the garden"... "or washed the dog". How much life you pack into your years is up to you. Glad to have you on board... I look forward to shaking your hand.

Thanks Steven. The software we use with the AMB transponder system is orbits and we have some very good people that have offered to train for us. I will see what I can find as far as study material. We usually have 3 - 4 people in timing with others running a manual backup.
