On Saturday, October 29.. Some of us are taking a mountain drive, and you are invited to go along.
General plan is to meet in Morganton and then hit the road at 9am. Run some twistys.. Stop for lunch, run a little more, then split up in time to get back home for dinner.
Tony Parrish has been invited to take photos on this run. Plus, we will likely pass the "Blind Kenny" photographers on NC80.
We will be stopping regularly, and will regroup at each segment. This is to make sure we don't leave anyone behind, and to help Tony setup for pictures along the route.
Post if you plan to join us. I will post more details as we get closer.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT an SCCA event. It's a group of friends out for a fun drive in the mountains. Participation is fully at your own risk.

Would this be a viable engine break-in drive?

Would this be a viable engine break-in drive? You'll have to define that..? It'll be an interstate run to Morganton, then twisty-turny backroad stuff, Uphill and Downhill, which could be spirited at times, seperated by calmer pieces on the BRP, and then the interstate return trip. The speed and RPM at which you do those things are somewhat up to you, but we do plan to stop regularly. Mileage wise... maybe 250-275?

Weather looks rough for Friday... Hopefully it's at least dry on Saturday. I'm planning to go- rain or shine -unless they forecast snow or ice at the higher elevations.

How hard do you guys drive these roads? Just wondering. Glad it was a success btw, let us know when the next 'un is. Let's just say nobody passed US :-) You have to respect the road and it's conditions.. It was wet and windy with blowing leaves (and snowing at the top). We were just a couple cars today - with more cars, we'd have to adjust the pace to accomodate. I wouldn't push anybody to go faster than they were comfortable with. The point is to have fun as a group and stay safe.
