Second Gear Program - we need your old Nomex!!!!

Lady and Gentlemen racers -

CCR began a Second Gear program to help people get started in competitive racing. Through the donations of road racers and time trial drivers from many of our Southeastern Regions, we have built an inventory of Nomex suits, underwear, socks, gloves, shoes, arm restraints, and balaclavas which we loan at no charge to novice drivers in TT and driver's school and road racing events. Being able to borrow this gear allows SCCA members the chance to get involved and spend their money on the important safety items..it has opened the door for many already.

We will clean it, hem it and get it ready. All you have to do is drop it with member of the board or mail it to me or hand it to me at an event. Please take a look in your gear bag and closet. We all know that Nomex shrinks over the winter... and Santa would LOVE to bring you a new suit that is "cut more comfortably". LET HIM... and send us your old equipment! We need all sizes of almost all gear (no helmets or belts due to liability issues).

If you want to see more drivers getting involved.... if you look around on the track and notice your class is getting a little small... here is a chance to make a difference. Most of you had people that helped you out when you were getting started... it's your turn.

I have Nomex string and can patch small tears and unravelings.

I have already had calls for a XS to XXXL so whatever you have ...please let me know!

Will donate my old single layer suit, faded black, sized XL. has my name embroidered on it but will leave SCCA patch on it. Where do I leave it?

Ted, I have my XXL driver's suit. It has a couple of holes that need to be patched, but it's still good. I'll bring them Thursday to the SWC meeting and we'll decide what to do from there.
