Hello CCR! I'm new to North Carolina.... came from Columbus, Ohio and have been a member of OVR SCCA (ohio valley region) solo for the past couple years. I worked in Timing & Scoring, so if you guys need help with that I'll help out where I can. I live in Mooresville, so hopefully CCR is the right region Here's a brief rundown of what all classes and vehicles I've autocrossed: *2008 - Was a passenger in a '67 Camaro then slowly started racing my 2004 Cadillac CTS-V (FS) *2009 - Continued with my Caddy then switched to a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (SSM or ASP) *2010 - Started to co-drive a friend's 1996 Chevrolet Corvette (BSP) then at the end of year started racing a 2002 Renault Warlock kart (F125) *2011 - Co-drove a friend's 1998 Ford Mustang GT (STX) but only did it a few times before I moved away from Ohio I'm very excited about getting back into racing and possibly trying out track racing too. I don't really want to race my caddy since it's my daily driver and only have one vehicle now that I've moved so I don't want to tear it up.... hopefully I'll make my mind up soon on buying to race, hehe. ~Ashley

James- I might be able to make it to the meeting. Will have to wait and see how long meetings at work last.
Eric- I don't know if I can race at the first event or not because I'm on-call that weekend. I'll have to bring my laptop with me or something in case I get called, haha. I should be at cars and coffee this weekend, so hopefully I'll meet some of you!

Welcome! More Yankees making the move This is a great area to be in for racing of many genres. Come out, make some friends, more than likely you could score a co drive.

Welcome Ashley! You'll find a nice full season of autocross racing here in The South. In addition to the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Carolina Motorsports Park is just south of here in Kershaw, SC, Virginia International is up the road a few hours and Georgia offers Road Atlanta and the soon to be opened Atlanta Motorsports Park a few hours down the road.
Nice to have your expertise and if you want to move into Road Race work we'll be glad to help with that as well.
As far as what to buy to race...go to craigs list and search "Miata"...you'll find plenty of potential candidates AND all will be virtually rust-free(that comes from another former Buckeye)

Skipping out on OVR and coming south as well I see Not sure if you remember me (Tim White, drove the older white Subaru and hung out with the Ritch's) but I remember the caddy. I made the jump to SC in Dec 2010 and I'm pretty sure you'll like it down here

Mazda has truly made you an auto you can't refuse. I want to do karts again, but I highly doubt I'll haul that around with my Caddy. I've been thinking about getting a Lotus Exige S... I'm sure the pax index won't be good at all though, ha!

If you're in the market for a Lotus, you know we have one of the best Lotus dealerships around right up the road in Winston Salem, right? Jim Carter is "a big deal" around Lotus North America (don't know his title exactly).... but he's into AutoX and runs here with CCR and with Triad Sports Car Club out of Winston Salem. Go check out Flow Lotus and support one of the dealerships that supports the AutoX community around here flowlotuscars.com/LotusCars.aspx Looks like they even have a few Exige Ss in stock right now!

Jim Carter is President of Lotus North America , only about 5 people higher than him on the Lotus TotemPole . He Lucked into it There are 2 Exiges on the lot , one is a Used Exige S that I have had the pleasure of taking on several afternoon excursions . The other is new . Also there are a couple of Elise on the lot . Ask for Ken Scott and tell him Anthony sent you . While you are at it check out Triads Sports Car Club at www.auto-x.com . and www.EvolutionSuperShootout.com

Ashley, did i see your car leave early on a rollback? Hope all is well. Yep... what better way to start out the autox season with a ride home on a flatback, hehe. The V was acting a bit funny all day, so it's no surprise. Was getting zero oil pressure so I had to get the oil pump replaced.

Hate you had to leave on the rollback. Similar day here. when my turn came the Camaro refused to crank, but it's all good. Saw many friends and many friends for the first time in a long time. Hope you can make the meeting Tuesday (28). Starts @6:00 but better late than not at all.
PS I'm the guy that harrassed you at the gate with the waiver. Please reconsider your restraining order.

I hope the V is ok. I love those things. You were driving the wheels off that thing. It's all fixed now ;D I didn't mean to be all crazy with it, but the stupid traction and stability control wouldn't turn off and I got mad. All is good now.
