What is the sound limit @ ZMax? I just put a new exhaust on and it is lounder than expected. I think it will be under 96db but don't konw. If there isn't a sound limit do they run a sound meter at events to get a measure?
Thanks, B

lol. yeah, saw that. maybe they run muffled dragsters! Searching the forums for any reference to sound came up nil so I figured I was good. Not that it is ear splitting loud anyway.

they run nitro burning monsters .... the sound is such that you won't hear anything anyone says for a week ... doubt that any of our cars ( rotaries excepted ) will cause that kind of hearing damage ....

Having worked course before the 100db national SCCA sound limits (which are still too loud if you ask me), 103db @ 50 feet is miserable for the course workers...

And to put it in context, at the "Endless Summer" race last year at CMP, the sound limit was 103dB. Not a single car came close... not the ridiculously loud Spec Miatas, not the even louder RX-7s, not even the 70s Corvette that lost its muffler on the side pointing toward sound control. I doubt you'll have ANY problem keeping it under 103dB.

SCCA has no official rules about sound limits. From the rulebook: APPENDIX I - SOUND MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES The provisions of this section are recommended, but not presently required. The specific DB levels (values of “XX”) are expected to be assigned by Regions according to the needs of their sites.
