Folks, don't be embarrased to be a student, even if you do not run as a novice. This is a great opportunity for anyone that wants more seat time, no matter how good you think you are. If you see their are better drivers than yourself teaching, you can learn, don't be a hero.
I took Triads Novice school (and yes I run Pro) as a student last year. I see it as seat time and also having the likes of Jadrice, Feinberg, CaSSino, O'Malley, Cline and other more talented drivers than I, it was a great opportunity to learn, and also a ton of seat time.
Do you want to get better? The 1st answer is Seat time.

I would love to attend both novice school and AX event. Is the track layout similar for both Saturday and Sunday?

Signed up and ready. I'd really like to be able to get someone to drive my car and give me some suspension advice(stock). No one makes shocks for my car yet so I'm limited to a front or rear swatbar change to correct the under steer.

Suspension and stickier tires will help, but....
As a fellow warrior in the battle against understeer(push), I humbly suggest this:
Patience. Brake sooner. Slow-in, fast-out.
Now, I have to tell you that I am not consistent at doing this. Even with the shocks and slicks, I still experience understeer. My favorite pedal is the one on the right, not the one in the middle, and I, personally, have to force myself to brake sooner.

That's one of the things I like about the MINI.... a liberal application of trail braking can do wonders for understeer

I definitely know I wasn't braking enough this weekend and carrying too much speed into the turns. I am trying to go too fast overall instead of just relaxing and going through the course smoothly.

No one makes shocks for my car yet so I'm limited to a front or rear swatbar change to correct the under steer. What kind of alignment setting? If you are running a stock alignment your car will push. All cars sold in America are designed to understeer. An example is my S2000, that I now have 3 degrees of Camber in front and 2.6 in back. The factory spec is 0.0 degrees in front, how do you expect to turn in with NO camber? You can also get larger front tires to help turn in, the my S2000's came 215's in front and 245's rear. I now have 255's all around. Bigger front tires = more turn in and oversteer. You do have more choices.

I'm personally pretty new at autocrossing, but I learned to drive with a single foot (the right one) a really long time ago. Couple that with REALLY WIDE feet, and you'll understand that this won't be an easy skill to master. I am working on it, but at this point, I'd be REALLY slow braking with the left foot.

I continue to be amazed at how few of you use left foot braking. Russ I've tried to do it, but so long as I don't have a harness in my car, as soon as I shift to 2nd, my left foot is pressing about as hard as I can on the dead pedal to help hold my body in place. I've tried it in my MINI and my Miata, and I'm slower in both instances. Only in my friend's WRX where there's a harness and I don't have to worry about moving around in the seat can I even attempt to gain speed by left foot braking.

Bobby did ok helping the Cobra team win a World Sportscar Championship. And Mark Donohue was no slouch of a driver using the left foot on the brake pedal.

I can't get my leg under the steering column to left foot brake. On the 66 Mustang I learned to drive in, I did... Drivers Ed instructor tried to break me of it, didn't work. But once I got a manual, I stopped...

Tabalas, there will most definitely be opportunity for someone to drive your car. This is the most highly encouraged thing of a Novice School. We like to "require" it, but we know some people are picky about their car. However, it is the best learning tool.
Left foot braking takes practice. Practice the feel on the streets before you take it to a track. I'm not sure if it is an imperative tool to have, but I encourage it. :/

Do a few runs for yourself, then ride along with a more experienced driver in your car, and see the difference. This will definitely kill the notion that you need to modify your car to get faster.

A quick story on why you should allow instructors to drive your car.
Back at the 09' NCAC while running in B-Stock Tire, I ran a 38.sumthin' in competition. Afterward we had fun run time, so I got in and started putting down several 37.8ish times. So now I got Jad-RICE and Wannagoo to drive my s2000 and Jon ran a 36.1 and Jay ran a 35.9. While in the passenger seat I noticed what they were doing compared to me, and how aggressive they were and I wasn't. And as I re-aligned my spine in the passenger seat from the G-forces they created, all I could think of was ... the car can do that, and that and oh yeah that too. So 5 minutes later I got my run and put down a 36.0, without the ride alongs I would have never put down that 36. My best was a high 37 after some 8 runs.
