my 1973 super beetle that i competed in scca solo competition with. Started as a H stock for 2006, then E prepared for 2007-2009. Havent run since moving to Iowa from South Carolina. I pulled the body off and installed new floor pans, no underside rust at all!!!!!!! It does have some where the rear vents are on the side behind the rear side windows. Sorry, but this is the best picture I have as it is in a garage with no lights and four flats. Compressor is dead. The chassis is as follows: Front end has new tie rods and center link, ball joints, poly bushings, 7/8th sway bar, topline struts, disc brakes with braided stainless lines, new wheel bearings at the same time. Springs are 120lb/inch or there abouts. Battery located in the former spare tire well and is a deep cycle wheelchair battery. This greatly changed the balance of the car. Gas tank removed and changed to 1 gallon aluminum fuell cell. Strut towers braced and front end caged to firewall. Interior gutted, but doors uncut. Has cylinder head tempgauge and oil light. Thats it. Aluminum racing seat mounted to stock seat bottom and bolted to floor. Seat belts are four point harness. Motor is stock 1600 with P/C set in 2006. Approx 5 hours on them. Big valve heads with swivel foot rockers. 12lb flywheel, dual solex carbs that I bought new. Full extractor system with megaphone. Rear suspension arms swapped left for right, with the shock mounts cut off and rewelded on opposite as well. That changed the car to near zero camber for the 5" drop on all four corners. Any VW owner can tell you what happens when you drop one of these in the rear. This car is flat on the ground and has 29mm rear springs. All poly bushings there too. Fenders cut and rolled to fit the tires. They are 23x10x15" asphalt modified tires and still hit the fenders lightly, but no cutting of the tires has ever resulted. They are mounted on 15"x8" diamond racing wheels with zero offset. Rear brakes are discs. I have had loads of fun with this car and it was a blast to drive. I have moved on to 4cylinder sport compact racing. Please email a phone number with any questions and the best time to reach you. Put something in the message so I know you are not a bot or scammer. Low ballers will be ignored. Thanks!
If this ad is still up, I still have the car.
I will be coming back in upstate SC in a few months to retrieve a car and can drop it off at that time if someone here wants it. It's a crowd favorite and a blast.
