I have absolutely no clue what's going on with those classes.... :-\ *baffled* And every NASA driver I know says the exact same thing about us! LOL ;D On the good side, it's a test n tune for you... no pressure, no points. Great bunch of guys and gals with a real love for autocrossing. So much love that when the school put an "on campus" autocross on hold... they planned one 60 miles from campus just to be able to run. THAT is passion and it's nice to see in young people in grassroots motorsports! Clemson Club was founded in 1963...it's one of the oldest college sports car clubs in the US! It's pretty amazing that it has lasted this long successfully when you realize every 4 years, they lose all their members. Hope to see you there. Ted

Forgot to do it the other night, but I'm registered now. Still confused by the classing and the option to pick my own run group. CHANGE IS BAD!!!
Another caravan down? Maybe meet up at the Bojangles off of exit 14 near AJ's? It's about an hour drive from there.

Here is another copy of the link, the one Eric posted is not working on my CPU, maybe it's me. www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/B0C3085A-98D5-F9EF-D40C86AEC84B68AAAs for classing, it is pretty easy, hasn't anyone played Forza? It's kinda the same thing, you start with a class, for me it is Class C and you add points based on your mods. For me I add for coilovers, full race exhaust, 9" wheels, cold air intake and that bumps me up to Class B, just like Forza's PI system.

Let us hope we get a better showing than we did at the Triad events of the past 2 weeks. Hopefully more than the 3 of us.
Did I mention the lot doesn't have polls!

Yeah - this one is fully within CCR Territory. Hey Ya'll - don't be afraid to date other autocross clubs. Great opportunity to see how other clubs operate, and of course, seat time is a beautiful thing.

Only 57 registered, that sound like a good ammount of seat time to me. And it's a new site we might be interested in running.
6:45 Tomorrow Morning at Bojangles off I-85 exit 14

The President and VP of the Clemson Club are regular attendees at our SWCCCR meetings. They spoke about the event last night at our meeting and stated they really appreciated our support and attendance. Thanks for coming! I think I am oldest active member... first ran with them in early 80s...

Had a good time yesterday - small, challenging course. Duckworth and Licursi battling for FTD right up until an STi snatched it later in the day.
All-in-all, a good job by CSCC, considering they don't get to run as often as they'd like.
As for the Venue - I'll let Mike Licursi comment.

First battling with Ted all morning, then watching and hoping I could hold onto FTD over Licursi during 2nd session.... THAT was awesome! ;D Talking to the guys during my work session I said something about his run looking really good.... "Oh.. you think he's gonna beat you?" "Well if he doesn't, he's NEVER going to hear the end of it, and it won't even be from me!" As for the event itself.... it ran kinda slow due to the course design only allowing one car on course and long layovers for worker changes, but... hey... we still got 4 runs... we still got done at a decent time... and there were still a whole lot of smiles in the paddock. There were some concerns about the course in the morning that were mostly fixed. Never a good feeling when your fears actually manifest themselves... but that's a discussion for another time and place. Hard to plan for fists of ham and brains of lard. :-\ Personally, I thought the course was a lot of fun. It was VERY well suited to my little MINI and I put down the run of my life on #3! All things considered, I'd say they put on a great event and I'd love to go back and run with them in the future. Thumbs up to a great group of college kids!

Licursi mentioned something about PAX and NASA... so I did some math for us SCCA guys... Me: 35.046 * 0.821 = 28.773 Licursi: 34.464 * 0.835 = 28.777 Clyde: 36.435 * 0.822 = 29.950 Ted: 35.977 * 0.857 = 30.832 Eric: 38.450 * 0.833 = 32.029 Rajat: 38.849 * 0.828 = 32.167 I picked out the names I recognize that usually run with us and their normal class. If I missed anyone, I apologize. Eric left the big stickies at home or I know he could have improved his times a lot. And Rajat was looking good out there for someone whose first AutoX ever was with us on the 18th at ZMax!

I have a friend (who will remain nameless) that for years has said " PAX is baloney! It is a contrived system built on data and statistics from national level cars with national level drivers on LARGE national level courses. The only thing it's good for regionally is to try to find a win... some way to make you feel better about your time compared to other people's times. " While in some class factors, I'd just about agree with him... I think on the average it's a good tool. In this case, it didn't help me feel better in comparison to other people's times. I just got whipped! ;D I need more seat time and in one car! Still fun though! And Duckworth, just pray I don't break out the secret weapon... Muahahahahahahahahaha...

And Duckworth, just pray I don't break out the secret weapon... Muahahahahahahahahaha... I'm not worried... not worried at all. It's a Jeep, so it'll break an axle/diff on the way to grid

You can complain about PAX if you want, but it is pretty close. At ZMax 1st and 2nd were .040 apart and then we had the rest of the field of drivers a bit off their pace. WOW and they both happened to be reigning National Champs and 2 of the 3 best drivers around NC. So I'd say it worked. As for the Clemson Event it was fun, even though I got out PAXed by a tire class car, it's all good. And now the Spartanburg Expo is an OK lot, I do not see us running there anytime soon, We have better lots in Charlotte. The lots do have polls that are not visible from Google Earth and that can lead to some shaky course layouts. The lot will force you near polls or as we ran on Saturday, too close to the edge of the lot that had a grassy hill that you could have backed into if you lost control in the sweeping turn at the top of the lot. And one guy did do just that and when he re-entered the lot spread dirt all over the place and a broom squad was needed. I would put Spartanburg on par with Knights. Ted, if you don't want to get whipped anymore, we have a Novice School this weekend, I can help you to not be late in the slalom if you like

I looked at it when I got home in Bing Maps, and they're visible there. You might try Bing in addition to Google. It has a "birds eye" camera that's taken 3/4 angle instead of straight down, so things like poles show up better. Some of the pictures on there are newer too.

Agree on PAX... but on small lots, it definitely is affected. Agree on lot as well. Ted, if you don't want to get whipped anymore, we have a Novice School this weekend, I can help you to not be late in the slalom if you like Ouch! I was going to sign up to instruct again this year at Novice school... maybe I better change my status to student!
