Well , thats pretty disappointing ...After all , THEY drove 5-6 hours to support the NCAC at Zmax and their site is just as good as Zmax . Perhaps, but I'm thinking very few of them are actually from Cherry Point. It's in the middle of nowhere.... 2 1/2 hours from Fayetteville, 2 1/2 hours from Raleigh, 2 hours from Wilmington, etc. As time wore on and I didn't have anything to do, I may have relented and gone... but when my wife asked me if I had plans for that weekend because she wanted us to go to the mountains with her family, I chose that over the 12 hour round trip. I have a feeling I'm not the only one you're going to be disappointed in, either.

Yea nothing like having to drive 8+ hours one way...I won't be making that one, prolly not any HSCC members at all. This will be the "Eastern State Championship...

I have the weekend marked in the calendar, and I'm planning to go. This is a special event. The 6 hour drive is an obstacle for sure, and I hope CCR can represent.
There'll be no driving down on Saturday morning. We'll see what happens as we get closer.

The drive to Cherry Point from Charlotte area isn't all round that bad. It's actually quite easy to do. The time factor is there, but having lived in that area for many years and been to the base for all kinds of different reasons (this will be my first trip for autocross) I can tell you that it will be worth the drive. Havelock, where Cherry Point is located, is a decent sized city with things to do. New Bern, where I'm from, also has thing to do to kill time as well. And about 20 minutes from Cherry Point is Morehead City with direct access to the beach. Granted it will be October so beach trips would be a mute point. There's an aquarium there and an old Civil War fort that can be toured. Not exactly in the middle of nowhere by any stretch of the imagination. And besides who wouldn't want to autocross on a runway at a Marine Corps Air Station and maybe see some sick ass jets and helicopters. You all know you do.
So like I said count me in. And if anyone wants to caravan down that Friday let me know. Though I will be stopping half an hour short of Cherry Point in New Bern. All in all looking forward to it.

Well, I know the drive to the location is rough for a lot of people, but I'm very excited about it. I grew up in Havelock/Cherry Point and moved to Charlotte to attend college. My parents and sister still live there, so like Josh, I'm looking forward to hanging out with family and getting my AutoX on! The drive from eastern Charlotte typically takes me about 4.5 hours. Can't wait!

NCAC truly is an experience. It is a great event to show your pride and represent your club.
Josh, I'm crashing with you. I hope your moms cooking is good.

Lol this is true. It was taken as gentle and I appreciate it Walter. It was just ironic that I saw the post as I was working on doing the results updates along with the reg thread.

I've got a question, and it may be difficult to fulfill this request, but I'll give it a shot. The first event of the season I ran in STC because I was told that was the class I should be in. I had been out of the sport for a while and wasn't aware of the new classes that were added in my abscence. Turns out that was wrong. If there is any way to transfer those points into STF standing where my car is supposed to be and where I've currently been running the rest of the season that would be awesome and greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

My bad for looking at the "Schedule" on the schedule page! I see now that #7 on the schedule page is actually #6 and that is posted, I am good or bad or just confused, see you there! The Event #6/#7 thing is because of the rainout at CMP earlier in the year - it's not being counted for points anymore, so the "#" has been shifted. --And I'm still going to NCAC--- :-)
