In the market for a set of wheels for my Mazda 3. Currently sitting on stock 15' steelies with hub caps. Looking for wheels in the 16"-18" range. Stock off-set is 52.2mm I believe. Not looking to have to roll any fenders or do any kind of modification to mount over-sized wheels. Function over form here. Widest I know I can safely go is 7.5" Might be wider, but I know for a fact MazdaSpeed3 wheels (18x7.5) will fit perfectly no rubbing at all. Tires isn't necessarily required on them, but they won't hurt a deal.

Josh, I have a set of 1 year old 225/45/17 Star Specs on OEM 17x7 Mazda6 twisted spoke wheels that I am willing to sell. PM me for a price and more info if you are interested.
The wheels are 55 offset so they will stuff fairly far into the wheel wells (nothing 5mm spacers won't take care of). They will clear without spacers, but it's close on the front. They are kinda rough and kinda heavy, but I think they look great. I bought the wheels new from a dealership and they have had no damage other than cosmetic.
The tires are 200 treadwear. They have 90 runs on them and less than 1000 street miles. They were well taken care of (watering, rotating, flipped). They have tire letter paint on them now. Since I had them flipped, the paint is on the inside.

If you're interested in a set of Mazdaspeed3 OE wheels I have a set currently sitting in the garage that I'd be willing to sell. These are the 18x7.5" wheels from a 2008 MS3 that you mentioned will fit your car.
The wheels were on my car for ~20k miles and currently have a set of 245/40R18 BFG R1 tires mounted on them. The R1 tires have a few more events in them (they were flipped so the current inside of the tire shows a few cords and the outside has tread remaining) or you could get them scrapped and mount your tire of choice. These wheels also include the Mazda TPMS sensors. PM me if you're interested in buying and I can send some photos.
