We had a handful of cars at Metrolina that are not bothering to read the rule book when it comes to the size and color of the numbers and letters on their car and I am not talking about the novices. When working timing when the bar code scanner isn't working we have to put your number in for every run. If the person in timing can't read your numbers it slows down the entire process. It also makes it difficult when cone calls come in. If they can't read your numbers they call it in as "the Subaru" which causes more grief for timing to try and figure it out. I have seen as many as three Subaru's on course at the same time. I'm going to ask Mark to start cracking down on this in tech and ask AJ to give one warning to those that manage to sneak by Tech. Your name will then go up on a piece of paper in the timing trailer and at the next event if you do it again, AJ can decide what your punishment will be. I think having to work a double shift or DNF all your times sounds appropriate.
I'm totally fine with using either blue tape or white tape for your numbers as long as it is a contrasting color to your car and are made big enough. You don't have to spend money on fancy vinyl or magnetic numbers if you don't want to. Blue tape on a dark colored car and that includes putting it on your tinted windows does not count. The numbers also need to be 8" tall and the class letters 4" tall. If you can't read the numbers from 100'+ away at a bad angle then redo them.
There are only a handful of use who do timing so please help make the job a bit easier for us. Timing screwups because of bad numbers causes lost time which hurts the run count for everyone.
Here are some good examples
