And since I know most of you never bothered to read the rules and simply had your minds made up the second it was introduced , We pay according to number of entries . $20 from every entry goes into the prize fund cash pay outs are adjusted accordingly . The Random draw prizes and some of the contingencies are supported by our Sponsors . Our big cash outlay was lot rental , Insurance and advertising . Zmax being more than triple the rental of most lots its size will be the reason we lost money on this event

For the most part this represents the normal big site AX. Usually 120 is the norm. Add 50 if the sun shines, and subtract 50 if it looks like rain. Only the hard core group goes either way. We just got bad luck with such a nice spring and then hit this bad weather. While the event is special to us, it is just another AX to someone driving 60+ miles to be cold and wet. Well run by a class group of people.

drum3: thanks for the correction. Like some others have hinted. With better personal economics, my chances of entering a similar event would be higher.

Well this was only my 6th autox event having just started this year. I do feel like the $85 price had a lot to do with attendance given that out of that near 180 crowd we had for the other zmax events close to 30 of those were novices. The rain forecast also played a little part as well. I, however, was there and had a blast even tho I didnt even come close to qualifying. Not only did i gain more seat time but i met new ppl and got to talk with and watch alot more experienced autoxers who gave me valuable tips. I really hope this is not the last we have seen of this format in this area, as i thought it was a great idea and much more exciting than a standard local autox.

sorry I didn't make it to the shoot out ... was at CMP getting 5 run sessions ( 20+ min each per day ) for 2 days for $180 .... + no ego crushing but whooping ( my PAX at the last event at Z-Max was 40+ ) ... with out the out of down national level talent ... so my only shot at Sun seat time would have been the random drawing ( 'course I'd have had a better chance with the rain LOL ) all I need is knowing I have a chance ... not asking for a "me win class" just needing to raise my driving a notch so I'm not quite so outclassed .... BTW I had a blast at CMP ... wish ya-all had had a better turnout

Walter...40th pax this weekend would have got you in the shootout in the LCQ. with that position you could have been in the shootout. And the only way to get faster is to go up against better compitition in my opinion. You can't get any faster on a autox course when you're burning up tires and brakes JUST lapping CMP, but no Butt whooping when theres no actual compitition. And yes I got my but handed to me on a plate on Sat. (93rd in pax out of 130...) but by luck of the draw ended up winning $290 and but for one cone might have went all the way. But it is prolly a moot point now as we will prolly never see another event of this caliber in our backyard. So when everybody starts hollaring about wanting a big event in the area...just remember, we had our chance. No more excuses needed...lol LilGunny

JBrown. First, CONGRATS DUDE! I was so pleased to see two fellow STS drivers in the final four. A great group of class. Yes I go "oh crap John Brown is here again" at first, but I enjoy seeing where I am compared to, yes agrueably, the best in my class. It is pushing me harder and making me change the car.
This was an AMAZING event. Hopefully we get it back next year.

I was not able to make the Shootout as I was out of town but was watching the event live. Congrats to JBrown and Brian Guinn.
If I run RTR with a ES Miata, how does it help me get into top 64 pax times when pax times for both are the same?

RT* got an additional PAX modifier, but... it probably wasn't as soft as some thought it would be. Chris Harp was the top RT competitor during Saturday's main qualifier, and he PAXed 49th. I was 54, Feinberg was 58, and Tony was 76

No more excuses needed...lol LilGunny as I said that was without any consideration of the out of town hot-shoes .... as for getting better by running against better drivers .... I know where I stack up against JB and 3 others in STS every month ( that beat me by 3 - 5 sec (raw) on 40 sec courses so I'm able to gage myself against that kind of driver on a regular basis ) ... and I'm not just burning up tires and brakes on track ... I do run ( somewhat non-competitively ) with NASA in their TT program ... and any track time can only help that .. + this weekend just happened to give me a lot of practice on a wet track and while I've been reading how folks want a "national" level event here ... I really don't care one way or the other ... not trying to be a spoil-sport ... just don't care... happy for those that want them and I'm sorry it doesn't look like it'll be coming back to CCR ... but odds are I wouldn't have run the event even if I wasn't signed up with Turn 1 btw ... congrats on your finish (any idea when the overall results will be posted (and where to find them ))

First off, I had a great time at this event, and did in fact enjoy it more than the recent national I attended, partly due to the fun of the vendor tents and the video. The format was a little intimidating, and I think this may be where some were scared away. At the national, there may be 275 competitors, but I would only be competing against 7 or whatever in my class. Therefore my chance to trophy at a national is pretty good, even if I am going up against really fast national drivers. In this format the feeling is, "I have to beat EVERYONE". I am wondering if there can be a way to have both. Perhaps you qualify for day two by winning class, plus the LCQ and the random draw. That way one could say, "I won my class". and go on to say "I won overall". As well, class winners could get something small, a t-shirt or whatever. Rain was why I waited to register, last moment the weather forcast cleared and I came down.

As well, class winners could get something small, a t-shirt or whatever. Class winners got a t-shirt. He gave them out at the end of everything on Day 2 because he said he flat out forgot on Day 1. He apologized profusely and should be in contact if you were one of said class winners in need of a shirt. And I agree... it would be nice if class winners got an immediate "in"... but all in all it still worked out quite well.

And this IS BOTH , a class competition for 4 runs , then in the LCQ you are competing against everyone . Class winners were also eligible for many contingencies . Our hope is to have about a $100-200 contingency package for class winners . The Shootout part is a cash payout so just a few contingencies there . We just need the competitors before the contingency sponsors will come on board , the Sponsors are in for ADVERTISING and until there is a decent base we will see few . As it was Bimmerworld , Vorshlag , Karcepts , Goodyear and several others DID offer contingencies to class winners .

Well, it sounds like even though I was there and had a great time, I was not aware of the class contingencies and t-shirts and such. I think as in most first time events, attendance can be low simply because it is new and people are not familiar with it. I came down simply to drive ZMAX with all the fast people who were signing up.
