Congrats to Brian Guinn on a third place finish in the shootout! He got into the shootout as part of the 12 random draws. The rain moved in today to take away the course advantage of the high power to weight ratio cars. Brian proceeded to put on a driving clinic on how it is done in the rain, knocking off competitor after competitor including Sam Strano, a multi National Champ. It was great seeing a local guy doing so well against this caliber of competition. Brian would have probably taken the $1000 first place if it hadn't been for a pesky cone that got in the way during the final four.

For all you guys that think you need to modify your car to get faster - take note.. Brian Guinn drives a stock class Mazda Protege on street tires. Without the Cone, he'd have been in the final.

Well, again you guys are very humbling to me. I am so proud to have been a part of the event this weekend that to be picked for the show in a random drawing after paxing something like 93 on Sat., I knew I had a chance to go a few rounds if it rained on Sunday, but never thought I could go that far, and yes that one pesky cone...UGGGRRRRR. oh well. An incredible weekend in LilGunnys life and again thanks for the kind words. LilGunny

Brian " Great Job " ;D it was a blast watching the Local Vs National and Outta Area Hot-shoes today ! To be honest I was a little bummed :-[to have missed the final 64 until I got there Sunday and saw all the rain. BUT the conditions really evened up all the competiors.
Overall it was a great event and an excellent experience i think I enjoyed it even more than most national events I've attended . With this being the 1st EVO Shootout event Maybe the area will get cut some slack on the low attendance , I 'll bet that after all the hype that will come from most that were there IF they make it back it will explode next time around !

Brian, great drive! I still can't get out of my head ... "Guinn takes down Strano!! Guinn takes down Strano!!" That was the most amazing round of the Shootout and made the final four even more exciting to watch. A random draw gets in the big show and finishes third. Amazing!
This could not have happened to a nicer person. So quiet, humble, generous, and a good talented regional driver. You sir showed a lot of what this event and format is about. Congrats!

Again thanks for all the kind comments, I can promise I will cherish this "win" for a long time, and doing it with all my friends there to watch was a "lifetime" moment. I am truly humbled by all the comments and such. Thanks to all my SCCA "family"!
