Interesting question... look forward to your responses. Earliest I can recall was 7 years old, 1964... dad driving a Corvair Greenbrier Van... looked exactly like this... Mom is in right front seat, I'm in the middle and sisters are in the back. We were winding through the Bat Cave, NC area on the way to my first Chimney Rock Hillclimb. All the sudden dad says "LOOK!" and points to a red car. I watched it approach, I whip lashed my neck to see it pass and I watched it until it was out of sight. Never forgot it... it was a : Never forgot that... still takes my breath away every time I see one. I was hooked for life.

Dad said I was brought home from the hospital after being born in a Porsche 912... don't remember that ride.

I remember watching a road race on runways at Ramstien Air Force base when i was in grade school. Fell in love with the gullwing Mercedes. So i was hooked at an early age. James

My very 1st new car was an American classic muscle car, the AMC Rebel SST..As soon as I saw it..It was LOVE..My 2nd was a 390 Javelin, 3rd was an AMX, 4th was a 304/3spd Gremlin X that I raced the wheels off..Had 2 more AMC/Rambler cars, b4 I went on to other new & different toys & AMC quit the car business..But, I wish that 1st one was put back in a barn to just take out on special days, and smile.. klb

I was about 5-6 when my dad took me to Portland international raceway to see in real life what he had photographed years before. The thunder and roar of the Lola can-am is all it took to hook me into racing.

at 7 years old dad took us to the Can-Am race at road Atlanta, the Mclarens crashed, the Chaprell j2(sucker car) broke, and George Follmer went on to win in a 917/20 turbo. Dad Autocrossed at the Locheed Sports car club in Atlanta in the 1970's. Since then its always been about the Car. thanks Rob F
