Ok so this has been making me curious since I first joined CCR. What is this Dixie Classic? Ive heard its a 24 hour autocross event. I needs more info!!!

Basically it's run like a test & tune... you get as many runs as you care to make in 24 hours. You get 5 "official" runs that count towards your points, which you have to declare BEFORE the run... but other than that you can drive as much as you want in any cars that anyone will let you. It's split into 2 12 hour segments... noon-midnight, and midnight-noon... and for each 12 hour segment you drive, you have to work a 2 hour stint in it.
As for Dixie Classic Fairgrounds, it's a site in Winston Salem.... about an hour north of Charlotte. It's a pretty cool site with a WONDERFUL paddock area.... lots of covered "vendor stalls" that we can use for paddock... grassy areas for pitching a tent to camp overnight... real restrooms instead of port-a-johns... and I believe electricity on site so we don't have to run that noisy generator.

I have a Dilemna on this one... Zfest is going on in Spartanburg that weekend. They've been pretty supportive of my event: Der Schuh Syndikat, so I might need to attend that instead.

That is also the same weekend as the road race at Barber Motorsports Park that I was thinking about doing since it was a combined regional/national race. Too much racing and not enough time in the day!

Yea and national championships wrap up the day before. It is a busy weekend in Motorsports. Great event. It is usually used as a learning experience for most. Whether you car hop to see what your missing, bring a truck load of parts to test things, find someone experienced to ride with and help you to find another second or more. The format allows you to try all kinds of things and many that you couldn't at a typical event.

Well I will definitely be there for both segments this year. Nothing beats running at 3:00 AM with the few dozen other people crazy enough to be running at that time of night. There were plenty of times at that hour that I would cross the finish line and roll right back to the start line immediately.

I so can't wait for this one. I think its going to be a great tuning aid! I wish we did this at the beginning of the season lol!
