www.grahamstar.com/articles/2012/06/28/community/doc4feca5c3075c6557387513.txtYou ain't seen nothing yet... September 29 & 30... good seating will be available for spectators... GREAT seating will be available for drivers. If you ever dreamed of running a hillclimb... GET OFF YOUR BUTT. With the Novice Program for the Dragon Hillclimb allowing you to run on a novice license with instruction and mentoring... I don't have a competition license!
With the Second Gear Program allowing you to run with free loaner Nomex suit, socks, gloves, balaclava and arm restraints... I can't afford the gear.
With cool temps and leaves changing in September...It's too hot ... you'd have to work really really hard to come up with a good excuse. Come have some fun... and ask those who ran their first hillclimb this weekend if it was worth it.

A tow pig? After a pig reaches 300lbs, it's considered a hog. A pig that can tow a Miata. Now I wanna see that!! What is the "F150" package that you mention on this pig? Wanna see pics!

I could not ever buy a Miata Racecar. :-) Show me an $1800 Bimmer and I'm all over it!

Spoken like someone who has not driven a properly set-up Miater. Oh yeah, you have to learn to get it above 4500 and then the fun begins. Have to wonder why the Miata is the most raced car?

Overheard recently... "I'd rather race a PINK Miata than a fancy BMW or Porsche and have to explain to my wife all the money I spent on performance parts for it! " THAT my friends was spoken by a man that can count to 21 in the shower and would like to be able to continue the experience...

Notice I never said Miatas were bad race cars.. on the Contrary, I understand fully why they are popular, and that they are good cars and in relative terms, inexpensive to own and race.
Just not the way I want to go.

Just kidding Eric... You have no idea how many times I've thought about converting the M Roadster to a hillclimb car. I can afford to do it... but I couldn't afford to build it up in a way to let it reach it's full potential... ...and IF I did that, I'd have to find another driver too! ; )

Notice I never said Miatas were bad race cars.. on the Contrary, I understand fully why they are popular, and that they are good cars and in relative terms, inexpensive to own and race. Just not the way I want to go. This is an interesting thread. I think that many of us got into autocrossing and club events based on a passion for one particular make or another. That certainly fuels the passion for many. I selected the C4 Corvette for conversion to a full race platform based on a lot of research and overall budget considerations (and a tendancy towards things American although I have owned Porsche, Audi, and Jag). On the other hand, if one's motivation is to become a better driver, my advice nowadays might be to get a well setup competitive car within one's budget and get all of the seat time that you can. The Miata fits that set of quals perfectly - an affordable car that lots of experienced racers have driven (aka free quality advice!). Working on my car is fun, but it does get tiresome and sometimes my projects cause me to miss events. Ok all that said - it is interesting to see the close mix of cars and drivers in the SEDIV TT series right now. If you look at the Saturday results from AMP, 2 secs (from 1:12 thru the 1:14s) covered 14 cars. And in that mix you have Miata, Corvette, BMW(s), Lotus (!), Celica, FV, SFR, and a Z28! I think that this is very cool and the reason that I come out. Not a knock on one-make series or spec racers, but variety is the spice of life as they say!
