Hi all, recently attended the Chasing the Dragon Hill Climb and decided to give this turning thing a shot after driving in a straight line for a decade or so.
I have a stock bodied FC RX7 with a SBC/T5 trans conversion. I understand that this will immediately put me into some sort of open class, but I cannot for the life of me figure out a) which open class I would fit in, and b) minimum safety criteria as it pertains to roll cages.
The gist of it will be that I'd LIKE to run DOT tires only and a 4 pt bar (hill climb and TT only, no wheel to wheel racing), but everything I've looked at is driving me to a full cage. Is there any way around a full cage at this point, or am I stuck due to the engine swap? I'm in desperation mode here, and can make the September climb if I can get by with a bar rather than a full cage, but if that's not the case, I'll be sitting on the sidelines until next year!
Any help or steering in the right direction would be much appreciated. I seem to have stumped most of my friends who are the SCCA faithful with this one!
