lol kinda sucks I'm tied with someone who only went to one event. Actually more embarrassing.
It sucks finishing 8th or 9th and getting same points as 27th... but I guess Pro (and other big classes) have to deal with the same thing. I know I'm not going to get top 5, but it'd be nice to lose and gain points with the people I'm racing 7th-15th. It would be much more fun and more competitive if the big classes received real points for the top 20. Rather than everyone running 7th or greater being stuck in 1 point purgatory.
Oh well next year should be better running straight ESP with hoosiers.

Travis, open and refresh. The link is good.
Points are only awarded for so many spots because there are few classes that are that big. Drive better Doug lol. Mustangs are tricky, from my experience.

Sarcasm received. I'll just ditch the novice and just play with the other big cars in ESP.

Sarcasm received. I'll just ditch the novice and just play with the other big cars in ESP. Points are tough man - Just wait til the end of the year when they apply the "drops" All you can do is show up for every points event, and try to improve with each event... Seat Time, Seat Time, SEAT TIME. And I might suggest a trip to an Evolution Performance Driving School.

Seat Time, Seat Time, SEAT TIME. And I might suggest a trip to an Evolution Performance Driving School. I'll add to this one.... invite someone to co-drive with you and soak up every bit of knowledge they can provide. Ride along with them in your own car... watch what they do... have them watch what you do.... try to figure out who is faster where and what can be done to improve. Watch their hands, watch their feet, watch their eyes, watch their lines, watch everything you can. There's SO much going on in AutoX and it happens so fast, it's hard to take it in... but I guarantee if you get a chance to ride with one of the fast guys and spend just one run observing THEM and not the car or where it's going, you'll be amazed

I've had other people drive me in my car and ride along with me to give me advice and it helps. I've ridden along with Kuhn driving my car. And I finally got Casion to drive it a couple of times at the last Night event. AJ co-drove it with me that same night. Between the feedback I was getting from AJ and Casion I can say that there's work to be done and I feel like I picked up a few things. Now to see if I retained them and will put them to use on the 11th

That is the key josh, retain and apply to the next event. I look forward to working with you again. HINT another ST co drive at the next night event anyone? Hehe Duck, you nailed it! The other thing to do is show how good you are, and then find a talented driver to co drive with on a full time basis(and beat them )

So how does this work. Says you need to be present for 5 events to qualify and lowest 2 get dropped. So if I attend 5 and 2 get dropped then I only have 3 point scores. Does that mean best 3 for everyone in class to determine points?

The drops is based off of the number of events for the season. We have/had 9 scheduled points events. You must compete in more than half of the events in the same class, therefore 5. Then the 2 lowest points events for every competitor are dropped. This means everyone will have 7 scored events, so to say. Drops allows for people to have life happen and not affect a hobby of a championship. Also, if still rewards those that go to every event. Maybe an out of state ringer shows up and steals your first place points, or you find out your tires completely went to crap one event, you mess up.
Just watch it unfold I guess.

But so does everyone else. If I make all 9 events, and earn points for all 9, but another competitor makes 7 events... He drops 2 "zeros" while I would drop at least 2 points. Don't get me wrong - we take the system the way it is, and I'm not suggesting it change. Someday I may need the benefit of "drops". I'm just throwing the info out there in the interest of understanding how things could play out in this situation. In the end, you have to drive better than the other guys to earn the most points.

If he can show up to only 5 events and still Have enough points to beat you then he's a better driver and should place higher. I think idea of drops is great. The system works great because we all know life and car issues happen. Good to know that just because I miss an event I won't drop out of Top spot

The drops are also handy for a PAX class like Novice where you learn the hard way that your car is ill-prepared for AutoX and you have to run in SM for a few events. Unfortunately, it looks like it's still gonna be too little too late for me....Even still it's nice to be semi-competitive for a change.

Joe if you had the brz at the start of season. This would be crazy with points. Next year we will battle in stx open.

Joe if you had the brz at the start of season. This would be crazy with points. Next year we will battle in stx open. You're too nice Travis. It's hard to say where I'd be if I had the BRZ all along. I think driving my SM WRX on the stock suspension may have made me a lot better driver at this point than I would've been otherwise. This BRZ is so easy to drive compared to my WRX. Unfortunately, it still wasn't good enough to compete with you at Metrolina. You ran awesome there! I honestly can't think of anything else I could've done better to catch you. With all that said, I will be moving to CS instead of STX for the rest of the season. The SCCA still hasn't officially classed the car for Street Touring and I have had a couple folks question me about running the STX base class. They were nice about it, but I don't want to ruffle feathers, so I'm going to do the right thing and run the only class that the SCCA has declared for the BRZ and that's CS. I hope to join you in STX next year Travis, but it will largely depend on what the SCCA does. If anyone thinks my points for Novice should be recalculated based on the CS PAX, I'll totally understand, but I think the STX classing has been pretty fair for my car. As a point of reference, Mike Kuhn was about 1.5 seconds slower at Metrolina in my car as compared to what he ran at Metrolina in is STX RX8 in June. In addition, the July version of the course seemed to be faster for everyone that also ran in June, so I think the spread would have been even more than 1.5 seconds. That's a lot on a 31-35 second course.
