Selling my autox wheel/tire setup to help pay for a new motor! The last event at ZMax did my motor in so I'm fundraising for the new build.
I have a set of 295/35/18 Hoosier A6's with about 35-40 runs on them mounted on black 18x 9.5 5Zigen wheels (lightweight!). Bolt pattern is 5x114.3 and the tires were speed balanced on the wheels when mounted this spring. These were used on my Blue 08 Subaru STi sponsored by Boxer 4 Racing. The car has been down on power for some time, low compression in cyl 2 and burning up to 1qt per 500 miles. I knew it was coming and thankfully had my AAA membership in force! My car made within 98 miles of Boone following the event and AAA's tow limit was 100 miles. Some days you are just lucky don't you know! My gal and I were home in time for cocktail hour and a beautiful sunset up here in the mountains. To answer your question re: the final straw...... I won't know until I can get to work on the engine but I suspect piston ringland failure, the typical weak link with the Subaru STi motors..... especially when combined with banging the rev limiter between 2nd and 3rd while on some of our "tweener" course layouts!  . Hoosiers and some bada$$ wheels anyone? |
