The 2012 North Carolina Autocross Championship will be October 6-7 at Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Station in Havelock, NC. We don't have many details hammered out yet but we'll be working on those immediately. We should have everything ready to go and registration open in a couple weeks.
A few notes about Cherry Point since it is an active Military base: Pre-registration will be required. That pre-registration will have a set closing date 2 weeks before the event, once it's closed it's closed. As part of that pre-registration participants will have to provide a little more information than they're used to giving for an autocross entry but its the only way the Marine Corp will let us autocross on their taxiway. There will be no camping on site and we will have final word on leaving cars/trailers overnight before we open registration. I know it all sounds like lots of hoops to jump through, but everyone who's ever come to Cherry Point agrees its completely worth it!
We realize its crunch time and are doing everything we can to release more details about the event. As we work things out they will be posted on the forums.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Will there be any penalties to register and not show?
Thank you for getting us some information.

No penalty for not showing. We just have to close the list and give it to the base so they have time to process all of the names and have the list to the guard shack before the event. The closing date and time will be set when we open registration so that we can spread the word. We always try to make a big "last chance to register" push before it closes.

Having lived in the New Bern areas for many many years before moving to Charlotte and having been on base multiples times I know exactly the kind of deal it is to have an event there. It'll be good to be back on base again.
I was wondering about spectators and guests as well. My grandfather was employed at NADEP on base and as such has a military ID, but what about anyone else who dosn't happen to have one? I want to bring my friends and family in New Bern along to watch and hang out with me.

The only name they check at the gate is the driver of the vehicle. That's who needs to be pre-registered. If you want to put a spouse, or crew member, or someone like that on the Gate Access List for any reason we have a "Spectator Only" class built into the pre-registration. Anyone with their own access to the base is free to come and go as much as the military allows them to already, we have no input there. The only way that NCR can promise access to the base is to be on the pre-registered list.

:/ I'm not going to be able to make it. I have other obligations that weekend.
We need some CCR folks to go represent us well. If your from our region, you can support us by going and be sure to register as part of our region. We have very few that I know of that are planning to attend at this time. The site is AMAZING!

A few videos for those of you who've never been there, just to show you the size of Foxtrot:
Foxtrot Taxiway is 450' wide and a mile long. Its fun, you do not want to miss NCAC.

I'm definitely in for this event. Havelock/Cherry Point is where I grew up and my parents still live there. I can't wait! Only question now is what class to sign up for....CS? RTR? Or maybe my WRX will be ready to go in ESP trim by then? Decisions, decisions....

So we have a free place to crash? If you don't mind sleeping on a couch, then absolutely! (I get the guest bed. ) Seriously though, if you and John want a free couch and/or recliner to crash on, my folks wouldn't mind at all.

Joe. Can I get a 3x6'3" area of carpeted floor? Ha, ha! I'm sure we can find a section of carpet that will work for you. I'll even get my mom to put her cats away and vacuum real good.

FYI, a lot of the hotel rooms have pull-out sofas in them, so you can get a lot of people in one room if you want.

Hey Chris - if you set up a Public Facebook event, we can help get the word out. ---
I will register shortly.. I already got a Hotel reserved on points..
I know Z3elda isn't the optimum car for a PAX battle nor is it particulary dominant in CS, but we can certainly represent and act as a spoiler. With alot of western drivers bowing out, we do have a chance!
Waiting to hear from my regular co-driver to see if he's going. If not, I'll entertain requests for co-drive and room share. Will update as soon as I know.

This is a PAX event?? SCORE!! Everyone register STF and chip in to buy a few sets of tires for my Mazda and we can dominate the event with my re-donkulously low PAX!!!
