Someone just showed me this at work and I had to paste it here for anyone who hasn't seen it. Amazing that these guys made it out perfectly OK; they say the driver is 100% fine and the passenger had a dislocated shoulder.
Hill climb ain't no joke!
Video may be NSFW due to language; headphones in!

Just wanted to add that one of these folks left with a broken leg and I believe the other was airlifted with non-life threatening injuries. From what I understand, "perfectly ok" is a bit of an overstatement.

Both Foley and his co-driver were air-lifted to a local hospital, but have since been released. Early reports suggest Foley escaped the calamity with a broken leg. This was his first time at Pikes Peak. If ever there were an advertisement for building a proper cage, this is it. Check out the video of the crash below.
*Update: According to a post on Evolutionm.net, neither Foley nor his co-driver, Yuri, broke any bones in the dust up. Foley exited the crashed vehicle under his own power and Yuri injured his shoulder in what may be a dislocation.
This is from autoblog.com
So I stand corrected as well. I believe that Jeremy posted on his Facebook page that only one of them was airlifted. Lots of info out there, but not all of it accurate.

Yeah, anything I say is just a regurgitation of the interwebs... nothing can be taken as accurate, haha.
As for the hood... it is a CF hood, so maybe it just looks like it is open? Here is a clip of him tearing it up just before the crash...
