I saw the thread title and I instantly said flipping hodges and I bet it was in the middle of the event. Lol. I'm about to work on them. I think I slept enough.

Anthony we are just spoiled with triads live timing system.
Here is my second fastest run. Forgot to record the fastest with the camera on.
My fast run in Revenge of tang
My run in the shillock roll mobile.

I was working on live timing... had it working last Tuesday when I demo'ed it... but for whatever reason it WOULD NOT upload a file over my connection this weekend. I spent about 2 hours before the event fighting it and eventually gave up.

Wow, I'm amazed that you got the results and points up already AJ. Thanks so much! In fact, I really want to thank all the core workers for everything they did to make this event awesome! I know this event was exhausting for you guys, but I thought things went really smooth despite the fact that it was hard to get enough workers for some of the 2 hour segments. Way to go CCR!

Yes- Superb job core group! You kept this thing going when we might have considered closing down for lack of workers. And yeah, we need to discuss that. I don't want to speak out of turn - and I hold no position of power.. but we can't expect do another 24 without a little more committment from participants. It is just not possible for everybody to work from Noon-2PM, then drive the next 24 hours. In the interest of safety, everybody needs a break. Everyone deserves a chance for a nap and also a chance to enjoy the benefits of the format (car-swapping, etc.) We can't expect a group of ~6-10 people to administer the event for (nearly) the entire 24 hour period. Expect changes in the format for the next one. Just sayin!

I can agree to that. I'd personally like to mention Travis dedication to finding workers. He was non stop to ensuring the race would go on. Like like josh sota out there working the course in the rain when I know he would have rather been doing timing. Casino doing start when he normally does... Wait what does he normally do?

I had fun doing the night session most of my first runs were in the wet but here was the 47.5 after it dried out a bit, felt pretty solid for my stock runflats.

Well after finally getting over my AutoX hangover, I'll add my 2c. First off, I have never been prouder of my wife than I was this weekend. You all know her from registration from the past 4-5 months, but AJ, Licursi, Casino, and I have been trying and trying and trying to convince her to drive. FINALLY... the day came. For the past 2 weeks, she's been nervous and ranting about how she's gonna be slow... how everybody is gonna laugh at her... how she's going to hit every cone... how she's going to spin horribly out of control, etc. Saturday morning, she was a ball of nerves and didn't want to get out there and drive. Eventually Licursi just said "Let's go"... she got in the car... got to the line... and drove. HUGE thanks to Joe Orlando for offering her a co-drive with an automatic transmission and to Amy Tsang for teaching her to drive straight drive in my Miata. My Miata.... heh. I had joked before the weekend that it was going to get passed around like a drunk sorority chick... and it did I love that car for how fun it is to drive, and pretty much everyone that took a spin in it this weekend said the same. I've thought for a long time that it is truly and utterly outclassed in STR and I've wanted to drive it simply for fun, but this weekend showed me it isn't half bad after all. It was driven to 6th, 9th, and 10th in raw... and 4th, 5th, and 6th in PAX. It may not be a contender at nationals or anything, but it was great to have it back, an absolute blast to drive, and I enjoyed seeing everyone else having as much fun in it as I was And now for the bad.... as Eric said, this simply can't go on like it did this weekend. Cyndi and I woke up at 5am to head up to Winston Salem, got there at 8:30 to set up, stayed up all night, and didn't get home until 2pm the next day. Going 34 hours without sleep SUCKS! She worked registration every time it opened (start, 1:30, 3:30, 5:30, 7:30, midnight, 5:30am, etc) and timing any time she was around. I worked timing every time I was near the trailer and not doing anything. Josh Elks and Josh Sotomayor worked registration and timing at all hours of day and night. Travis Toliver worked his butt off with workers. And that's just the ones I know of. We do this because we love it, and I DID have a ton of fun this weekend, but those that were around for that last hour or so can attest to how tired and cranky I was getting. Simply put, WE NEED HELP to make this event go off again. We need people to run registration, both at the 24 and at regular events. We need more people who know how to do timing and can step in to give us a break at the 24. We need people willing to stick around and help pack up the trailer at the end of the day. This is something we all do because we love it, but I'm DEFINITELY starting to understand how quickly one can get burnt out.

Ok about timing. I will say this. I know multiple people who have tried to help with timing at this event and learn it. I'm not calling names but 2 different individuals were shut down when tried To learn and help. So if we need help with timing we need to allow some people who are typically outside the "core group"

The 80-20 rule comes to mind... We need to change that to maybe 60-40.

So if we need help with timing we need to allow some people who are typically outside the "core group" I'm not sure who was kicked out, but I can tell you I taught Alan Johns at the Metrolina event and Joe Price on Saturday morning at the 24. If there's anyone that wants to learn, come see me. You probably can't use it as your official work assignment, but I will be glad to show anyone the ropes on how everything works. As long as AXware doesn't screw up, it's easy, especially at the 24. I taught Daniel Wendel on the spot how to do it so I could take a restroom break. Basically you just have to watch the running timers to make sure there's the same number of timers going as there are cars on course and occasionally do a bit of data entry when someone declares an official run. When AXware DOES screw up.... well... see my signature!

So if we need help with timing we need to allow some people who are typically outside the "core group" Hmmm, well I didn't have that problem at all. Steven gladly let me come in there and look over his shoulder for timing. Josh Elks let me watch him as well. I'm happy to work a "regular" work assignment in addition to learning timing at any of the next events if it will help. This is my first season competing and my eyes have really been opened to the amount of work a small group of people are putting in. I always try to help beyond my normal work assignment if I can, but I can't always come early or stay late when my wife is waiting at home with my 4 little boys. Sometimes it's all I can do to convince her to let me come out for the minimum time. I know we all have other obligations that make a larger commitment tough, but if everyone is willing to just do a little bit more here and there, then we'll be less likely to burn out our core workers.

Looking at the results I can't believe I took a long backwards skid on my fifth run and didn't DNF. But mission accomplished I trashed the Bridgetones and got a nice road tire Sunday so I don't have to use the Hankooks for everyday use. Had a great ride to Surfside today. I know what to bring for next year to make the event more comfortable. Sorry I could not stay for the whole thing. My wife had her worst on call weekend(she's a hospital chaplain), with three deaths and an autopsy on Saturday. When she came off at 8am today i was up to 7. She was pretty shook up when she called me Saturday so the better part of valor was to head back to Columbia.

This was my first '24' and god I loved it. It was such a blast. Met some new faces and finally put some names to a few old ones haha. Thanks to everyone who let me drive their car, and in some cases accidently spin it out and do some landscaping with or plow down walls of cones. Especially you Duck. That car is fantastic to drive. Other than my car I got more runs in your car than any other one I drove. Another shout out to Mecca's car. That harness is uncomfortable, but your Subie is also incredibly fun to drive. Enjoyed it very much. Great event. Props to AJ and Licursi for organizing yet another damn near flawless event.
Of course every good story has it's 'dark side.' I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but it can't be stressed enough, especially after the 24. I LOVE autocross for so many different reason that I don't have time to list. And I also love working for and helping to put on the autocross events and for the Club as well. I nearly enjoy doing the work part as much as I do the racing part. There's core work group for a reason, but that doesn't mean that anyone else who isn't part of the core group can't do more. At an event like the '24' people HAVE to work the late shifts. I know the idea of working at 3am sounds like hell, but it's what has to be done. It isn't fair to anyone if everyone is trying to work the 'sane' hours so they can run the rest of the time. It puts a lot of strain and fatigue on those who are working those graveyard shifts. I know that personally I was ready for the event to be over at nearly 3am, not for a lack of enjoyment but due to a lack of sleep and energy. For events to continue to run as smooth and seamlessly as they have it will require more help from everyone. Staying a little extra to help tear down the event. Showing up a little early to assist set-up. Maybe even working multiple work assignments if we happen to be short workers. I know that requires more than what we are asked in order to compete, but if everyone one of us did just what we exactly had to in order to drive there wouldn't be events. It takes the extra efforts to make these events happen.
All in all a very awesome event and very happy with the end result. Had fun and I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves at least as much as I did.
/end rant
P.S. I'll be re-naming my car from the Mazda 3i 2.slow to the Interesting Little Mazda. Thanks to our Chief Mecca of Autocross Noledge.

you could draw more workers from the National group if the 24 wasnt on the same weekend as Nationals . In TSCCs backyard , but 18 of our core group was in or on their way to Lincoln , these are the ones that keep our events running and usually step in for other big events .

Which is part of the reason why there were only 83 competitors this time.. The format screams for a long weekend so you can have a recovery day, but the Holiday and Nationals really hurts attendance. We seem to have this discussion every year, at least since I've been involved.

Well I finally made my second CCR event this year and it was a great one. Got there 11:30 pm on Saturday and had plans to run a little and take a nap. Well that didn't really happen. Great course for the venue, the blind fast right at the cross over was a corner I never really got right. I realized how much I rely on walking and planning as I didn't have any of that.
BIG Thanks to Steven for letting me drive his car for my official runs. It was a great miata course. Working 2am to 4 was pretty fun too.
Thanks to all the workers who went above and beyond. It really takes a ton of effort by everyone to pull this off. I was very impressed.
My favorite event of the year hands down. Thanks Again.

We need a second string list of people who have been trained on various jobs to call on as we need. Don't just train On timing but also registration and other such needed jobs. Develop a core group training session
