We do... we absolutely do! Marske and Kuhn usually do tech, but this weekend Kuhn was on the way to Nebraska and Marske couldn't make it until later, so Phil had to step back in to help out with tech. I know the Raleys would appreciate more help with it there since they're the usual suspects. As for registration, YES... YES YES YES! Right now it's Cyndi, Frodo, and Shenanigans. Cyndi used to be able to stick around in registration the whole time since she wasn't driving, but now with her wanting to drive, all 3 of them will need at least a short break to do course walks. And as I said, this weekend she worked EVERY registration session. I think with you and Eric stepping up on the Safety Steward front, we do have pretty good coverage on that these days... so I thank you both for that.
If someone wants to learn tech/registration/timing/etc.... just ask... PLEASE ASK! It's kinda tough at the night events with the small numbers and only 2 sessions.... but if we do the novice/intermediate school like we talked about in October there will be plenty of opportunity to jump in and try it out.

I'm glad to hear so many people had fun. It was a fun event for sure as always.
Joe, thank you for seeing how hard we work for 100+ people to have fun once a month. I won't even bring up or think of how much Mike and I put into this single event. I have to yet again give a lot of thanks, and kiss the asses, to our core group. I feel bad for everyone. Josh and Josh did a lot of timing and covering course in short times. Cyndi is amazing for her commitment to registration even before she started to drive. It was great to finally see her drive and that big grin she had. John Byrd, Amy Tsang, Eric Peck, Travis Ball Greg Pressley for all of your efforts covering safety. I have a feeling I may have missed some there I'm sorry. Phil and the Raleys covered every tech session. D'Amico worked a lot of timing sessions while he was on site. Steven Duckworth yet again worked his ass off for us. Y'all don't realize how incredibly value able he is to our club. His dedication is insurmountable. Big thanks to you yet again. His efforts for this event started weeks in advance as well. Travis Toliver .... dude. Thanks is not enough for you man. I didn't want you to work as hard as you did, but if you weren't so proactive things would not have gone as smooth. You checked in just about every work session, we're making sure work sessions had enough coverage an hour or several in advance, changed the coverage to utilize as few people as possible when needed. Travis and Duckles are the heroes for this event.
These people put so much in for 93 people to play. At noon when we shut down, who was there to pack up. Thankfully there was a boy that helped me go around in the truck to get the cones but I'm unsure as to who it was, thank you sir. A little goes a long ways.

I didn't get to finish that post yesterday and just did.
Nariah, thank you! Tball, lol! That is a great analogy and I like the thought. Here's the thing, that's what I've been trying to do. Many positions need extra people so others can do course walks. I've also been talking about having a rotating schedule for each event in certain positions. I'll just be more active in recruiting people instead of seeing who wants to volunteer.

Ok, first of all, that... was... AWESOME! Thanks to everyone that made it possible.
I do want to apologize to Steven for not helping out with timing, I honestly just got carried away like a kid at the fair and didn't realize how short staffed you guys were when I was running early AM. I'm also sorry we couldn't stay and help with clean up, but the GF had to work the next day and only had a 2 hour nap with a 3 hour drive home staring her in the face.
Second string? Ooooh, pick me, pick me!!! Ok, seriously, AJ (or anyone really), feel free to recruit me for whatever whenever. Sometimes I just feel like I'm getting in the way, other times, well, they don't call me Captain Oblivious for nothing. I'll try to be more proactive, just let me know if I'm getting annoying.

Ok since Steven made me get a user id, I'll go in on all this.... I was so glad to help in any way I was needed. When I wasn't driving (with my big grin on my face) I was either doing registration or timing. I want to say a thanks to AJ for grabbing me out of registration and doing a course walk with me I think that really helped me out alot. I'm not a person who can just sit around and watch when I wasn't driving, I saw that help was needed and jumped in with no hesitations. I feel priviledged to get to work with a great group of people, who have become some great friends. Guess to join in with Frodo and Shenigans, I now need a nice nickname I appreciate AJ, Casino, Licursi, Frodo, Shenigans, Amy and of course Steven for getting me to finally drive. And a big thanks to Amy for teaching me to finally drive a stick shift, at least good enough for Steven to actually let me co-drive his Miata I can't wait.

"The 24" always a great time. And without The Duck's, The Josh's, Mike D and Travis it wouldn't have happened. You all rock!
As many have stated, we need some more help to pull off quality events like this one. With the usual suspects doing all the heavy lifting, "The 24" is quite debilitating on those that wear many hats, and do more work than should be required by a single person.
It is about time some novices step up, as well as some long time veteran autocrossers. Seriously their are many veterans in this club that have been autocrossing much longer than myself and don't chip in with the needed work inside the trailer. I find this ridiculous.
If people do not step up and lend a much needed hand, I will NOT put this event on the schedule next year. We can't ask people to work half of the 24 hours and stay up for 34 hours straight as the Duck's did this weekend. This is utter (curse word)!
To simply come to an event like this, drive and just do your work assignment is nonsense, while others can't catch a breath from all the work thrust upon them.
We are suppose to be a club, a volunteer club. We don't get paid for this. So when this core group gets burnt out, and at this pace we will, sooner than later! Who is going to put on these events?

Excellent job to all the other core workers/people who made it possible. It was an excellent 24 and I'm glad that others had fun as well! Glad to hear all the feed back about the car, definitely going to address the harnesses and the seats when I get the chance. Thanks again to Casino for the tutiledge! (spelling? lol)

amj01 is Alan Johns, 42 STR black Miata (you looked at his car at about 10 pm Saturday for the gas smell) But mainly posting to add that I had a great time for the short time I was there. I got a little annoyed because my car was having problems but I still had fun. The first few runs that I did get in my car before parking it for the day in the rain were awesome, and I finally managed to completely lose it and end up in the grass! First time I've managed to do that lol, darn that bump in the first sweeper causing my rear suspension to unload mid turn. Also I just want to add, I've already been learning timing with SCR and by installing it on my home computer and working on some code for what is going to be SCRs live timing website. You can see a demo of what me and Michael Hoatson have together at live.scsportscar.com, it has old run data from the Subaru Showdown currently, but gives you the jest of it. We will hopefully have it running at the next SCR event on the 29th, we just need to work out an internet connection for the laptop. So I'm happy to work timing whenever there is need. I'm also an IT professional (full time programmer), so things like that come pretty easy to me. If I need to however "train" under someone at CCR before y'all want me doing anything with it, I will be more than happy to sit in the trailer during my next free time at an event. I'm sure I haven't seen all of the bugs that can occur with axware to know how they are usually handled. I'm willing to help out wherever I can.

I know you know what you're doing and you don't need to "train". The only thing that should be different are our timing lights now that you guys have the fancy new Farmtek system, right? If you feel like lending a hand, please, FEEL FREE! I was trying and trying to get live T&S online this weekend, but I just couldn't get the tethering on my cell phone to work. For some reason, it HATED FTP traffic. It would login to the server, but never manage to transfer anything in either direction.... not even a directory listing. Soon I'll have a new Android phone to try it with and we'll see how that works. Off of logistic and worker talk for a minute... your mention of rain made me think of something AJ brought up this weekend. Everyone complains about how much they suck in the rain, yet when we had a PERFECT opportunity for practice this weekend.... everybody parked their cars. After that, I went out and started taking laps in the rain. Yeah, the times sucked, but hey.... practice is practice... seat time is seat time. Might as well get a chance to run in the rain in case some day (Evo shootout, anyone?) the time comes to make it count. I was having a blast in the rain once AJ convinced me to get out and do it! I may even have to start hoping for rain at events from now on

I agree, driving in the rain was loads of fun A little scary one time when I found myself pointing directly at a timing light after loosing the rear end on that back switch back, and had to go on the wrong side of the finishing area to avoid it lol. But other than that sliding around out there was a blast. And definitely could use the practice for when running in the rain counts. Next event I'm at I'll stop by the trailer and see what I can do to help out. If we have a night event again this month I'm not sure if I'll make it or not, doing some work to my camaro, rebuilding the rear end (the problem that made me park the car Saturday), and swapping in a new tranny. If I'm done with it before the night event I'll come out to it.

I'll gladly stick my head in at registration to learn it, Steven D. already showed me the basics of timing, just need to practice with some adult supervision. I know safety steward requires some sort of class, are there any pre-requisites for tech? Honestly, some of us noobs just didn't realize how much work you guys were putting in, I guess you make it look too easy. And shhhh, stop telling people how much fun running in the rain is, more runs for us

With some user names it is hard to tell who they are without a signature lol. Of course I see you fixed that now. There are so many new ones to keep track of also. Thank you Alan. We will try to get you learning some stuff and I want to rotate people from event to event. I am impressed by our novice class this year. So many of them are stepping up to do extra stuff. Their driving and ambition for the sport is phenomenal! We, the club, have been trying to spend more time with these people and it's making me proud.
Hickerson, we will try to work in to our timing rotation. Good luck with the car. Adam, you are great at providing extra help. Please continue to do so.
Yes, I went into a rant at the second rain shower. The grid was slammed full then the rain hit and it got slim. Take advantage of a golden opportunity when it doesn't count to drive in the rain. I frantically swapped tires so I could get out there, and I'm a good rain driver but practice is practice.

And don't forget the "LONESUM THREE" Me and two others who worked the whole course, chasing all your cones from 2:00am until 4:00am. Damn I was tired, I had the crossover, with one guy in one end, and another in the other end,.....sorta sucked,.... But I enjoyed the HELL out of it !!!!!!!!!!!
