Have the cage going into the car in about two weeks, for the backstays off the main hoop, I know they need to be at 45 degrees from horizontal and that the bars themselves need to be perfectly straight, but is it legal for them to splay out a little bit (5-10 degrees) from the main hoop in order for them to attach to the shock towers? What I mean is, if they go straight back, parallel with the with car the backstays would wind up mounting to the floor pan at the base of the rear bulkhead and even with spreader plates, I think it would be stronger if I could mount them to the strut towers instead by taking them 5-10 off parallel with the sides of the car. Couple pics for illustration purposes, the first is in the general area of where it would be straight and the second is where it would be if I can splay it out: Thanks for your time in advance.

Refer to the GCR roll cage section, ie bar mount location in reference to allowable shock tower reinforcement for your class. If its a weld in bar, will you have enough space for the mounting base/plate size requirements.

That's the fun part, I'm not sure which class it's going to be in yet. E-mailed Ted about it and he sent it off to Steve, just waiting to here back. It's gonna be a full cage that's welded in, car is completely gutted with no a-pillars so it isn't gonna wind up in one of the street classes that's for sure.
